    Balloons

    I was wondering:
I downloaded Peter Walker's balloons from Simviation, parseval-sigsfield_balloon.zip & WWi French_Caquot_Balloon.zip, as they will be great for my Golden Wings.
However, they are CFS2 aircraft, so I put in panels & did the usual ui_manufacturer, ui_type & ui_variation mods to the aircraft.cfg.

It flies, but not for long, as it starts decending.
Any ideas to keep them afloat?

IIRC Bill Lyon's did a blimp for fs2002/4 you should be able to find a copy at either Flightsim or Avsim
try swapping out the .air file for that one

Or ZR5.air file. I used it for different AI airships like the Dixmude.

    Robin,
I think you may have a slow puncture......a puncture repair kit may help..

As others suggested I would just try some other zeppelin/ballon/airship airfiles, and see. As all flightsims were designed for powered wing flight, balloons, helicopters etc are difficult to get right. Try making it very light in the ac.cfg weight section.

    Cheers

Shessi, indeed I have a slow one.
I have approached Dunlop for some patches & a bit of hot air, & I'll report back.

ZR5.air file is part of 'AI ZR5 Dirigible'. I use it also for Bill Lyons' LZ127 to get it flying as AI. As Shessi said, you migfht try different air files. I fianlly found out that AI Hot Air Ballons run best with 'stemme_as_helicopter1.air'.
