Thread: Premium Aircraft...?

    Premium Aircraft...?

I am wondering about information on the "premium" aircraft.

    - Has anything been said about repaints..?
As the aircraft seem locked down will MS or the design teams control/release repaints..?

    - Do we know who designed the "premium" aircraft..?
I am curious about the 787.

    - Are there expectations that these aircraft might be developed further or will they stay default.?
(Leaving the field open to others) (I think I am answering my own question)

I don't think the aircraft that come with Premium are any different in terms of modelling quality than the others.

So, just as repaintable and with just as many INOP buttons in the VC, un-tameable behaviour on TO and Landing, etc.

Except that the aircraft.cfg files are inaccessible, so there's no way to add paints to them. If you know how to get at them, I'd appreciate the info.

The same guys are doing mods for the A320 which for me is the best jet in FS2020 right now. I am glad to see the community is already working so fast on doing things like this. I am totally convinced that FS2020 is going to have a long and very successful run.

But sadly, I just got a BSOD flying the A320 KSFO to KPHX. First time I've had that ever on this machine.

I went one folder level above the "8bbwe" folder and searched for "aircraft.cfg" - no joy. I'm thinking they're embedded into something else...

Except your not using the aircrafts aircraft.cfg file to add liveries any more. Liveries go in the community foler like verything else, and the aircraft.cfg file is part of the livery's folder..

Vicki "little boat"? Great name, Pam! I was part owner of a Cal-20 sailboat named "Chalupa". Fun times on San Francisco Bay! Now back to getting those aircraft and repaints in the correct location!
Charlie Awaiting the new Microsoft Flight Sim and will eventually buy a new computer. Running a Chromebook for now!

Rick, check any of the upgrade planes, like the C152 Aerobat or the steam Cessna. Those don't have an aircraft.cfg in their folders.

OzWookie mentioned something I haven't had a chance to look into yet in another thread about not needing the aircraft.cfg file. Apparently Asobo published something about how to use another file to fill in the necessary data for liveries for premium planes. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, though.

I haven't looked at the new 787 stuff yet, it seems like from discussion you can do more than just install in the "official" directory.

    It's explained here: https://flightsim.to/news/boeing-787...ier-to-install

The entire DRM scheme for the "premium" airplanes is kind of silly, since I believe that pirate groups have already figured out how to get those aircraft into the cheaper versions of the sim, so Asobo is essentially just annoying anyone who wants to modify the (often seriously wonky) default aircraft at this point.

With FSX/P3d, every copy protection setup I'm aware of still allowed users to modify the aircraft.cfg, so I'm not exactly sure how Asobo managed to take a few steps back here.

I literally added a livery to this exact aircraft.

    Which "exact" aircraft?

In the community folder, or did you modify the textures in the main aircraft folder?

  25. #25
The C152. Non-Aerobat. I created a new aircraft texture folder in the main aircraft folder. Then edited the texture in that new folder. I then followed the steps to create a new thumbnail file. Which honestly I haven't gotten right yet. But it's showing up as selectable. It looks like trash so far. but it works. I named it TEXTURE.Metal. Then edited the aircraft.cfg by adding the new [FLTSIM.1] entry.
