Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

    Sightseeing - Rishiri Japan

Probably the best airport scenery of Japan that will ever be done - FSX Maniacs Japanese Group now defunct. This is Rishiri - all the airports in Japan are exquisitely handcrafted like this was.

There are times when one is simply amazed by P3D. Canton Island - overcast and stormy, windy and raining - real time weather and True Sky. Then I noticed the ocean was alive and the waves in the background rolling and moving with foam crest waves breaking here and there!.

    So might this one:

Jan Kees paint from FSX RAAF A3-14
Still the most useless aeroplane the RAAF ever got. Good for 1 hour - very fast - but a pure interceptor with very short range! Just the thing for the wide open spaces of OZ - not! Still a hoot to run around in!

Quite surprising what works well in P3Dv4 and P3Dv5, for example the RAZBAM F102 looks and flies better than I remember under FSX!

The French have no chance. This is the only one that might manage to stay with the Lightning in a climb.

Yes, the F-102 is superb in P3Dv4.5.

Could have been worse Mike, image the delays incurred if the RAAF Brass had their way and hung out for an Avon powered version!

Wombat 666. Yep - thats the RAAF they always know better - thats how we ended up with 128 items on the CT-4 check list! Ah the magic parrot miss it not! I am still scarred from doing 5 fully developed spin sorties on a hot afternoon with blogs (at 35C+ the parrot was pushed to get 200-500 fpm climb on a hot day- long way back from 2000 ft to 6000 ft to do it all again, not to mention doing 80 touch and goes with a full days circuits. Yeah and 50C under the bubble canopy at the dispatch ramp. Then hours of write-ups afterwards! Got me thinking and to think it all started with a win in the lucky lottery to go on an overseas holiday to some place called Nam!

I agree It is interesting how more stable or real these older models are in P3D - across the board I am not sure why that is - maybe it is the 64 bit processors! And the lift in the quality of the graphics is still outstanding.

Seeing I have temporarily hijacked the thread - I wish there was an easy fix for the way the shiny aluminium textures in FSX go dirty grey in P3D.

It's the Aerosoft Lightning family -- the F1A first, then the F2A. There are P3D mods available on the Aerosoft forum.

Lightning pilots were a strange breed. They kept one eye on the situation outside, one eye on the radar and one eye on the fuel gauges.
