Not exactly ... I mean that the hole containing each gun should be let's say closed inside with a black circle because the guns are not modelled in 3D and it seems ( at least to me) that the guns ports
are 4 through holes that on certain points of view ( look at the pic ) show the hollow inside of the fuselage ... anyway , it's a very small graphic matter -

I think I get your drift....I remember when I used to clean and load those guns many moons ago, I would see the the tips of the gun barrels. This looks like no guns are installed (Hollow)
    Never noticed that before.

    Vmfs 235

I found a color picture of the VMFA 235 that I posted above. Looks like it is a candidate for the wash rack.

That's what you get from firing Zuni 5 inchers, and 20mm's with no flash suppressors -

Just spent the last hour trying to get rid of a dark patch under the probe fairing (see above); now I see everybody's got it. What the Dickens (or similar!) is it??

    Just looked in P3Dv4.5 - doesn't appear.

    Omar the mascot

Just a bit of info on that mark on the tail:

In 1961 the Sundowners' traditional mascot, "Omar," was conceived by squadron enlisted men to mark the transition to the F-8D Crusader. The triangular stick figure appeared on VF-111 aircraft and squadron spaces. During the 1960s, VF-111 flew four different versions of the Crusader (F-8C/D/E/H).

I noticed the same thing but didn’t see it until I posted my screen shots. First thought it was a shadow but now I think it might have something to do with the new model as the v1.0 didn’t have it. I’ve seen this type thing before on other models and it seems to appear when some transparency is misaligned in the model. Now, I’m not a modeler so my terminology may not be correct but I do believe it is in the model file and not correctable by a painter!

I think it has something to do with the refueling probe! When it is not extended the shadow is there.

    Look at this screenie.

Perhaps the IFR probe door is raised and not noticeable in raised position. Just a guess.

It seems to be some kind of a shadow of an object that may not be fitting exactly as it should but is invisible to the eye. When that side of the aircraft is away from the sun the anomaly is NOT THERE whether the fueling door is open or not. When in the sun the anomaly IS THERE whether the fueling door is open or not.

    Steve,

I think you are on to something, I took this with the sun shining on the IFR probe side.

Here I rotated the plane 180 degrees and the sun is on the other side - Nothing casting shadows - shadow mark is gone. I sure hope that can be fixed.
There is no shadow mark. and no IFR shadow either. Strange. (P3D V3.4)

Try the slew function and rotate the plane and observe what happens as the plane rotates from the sun to the shade and vice versa - notice how all the shadows go away when
away from the sun and as you rotate into the sun shadows appear including the strange dark mark.
Wonder if it had anything to do with that configuration addon for v1.1? Adding pylons etc.
