Yes they do however they require simobject shadows to be ticked

They definitely dont look 2d in the game without shadows off

I was wondering about that myself - thanks for the info

I ticked both of those in red

I discovered this video on shadows settings and how the "receive" option can affect the Frame rates with stutters.
Based on video below, I unticked the receive box.

The main problem you are going to face with simobjects cast shadows will be that all cars on the road and any other non building onbjects will cast shadows, this can bring your game to a halt in dense regions with autogen and all types of AI turned up

So, is it better to untick both (cast/receive) or just the receive?

Cast is the object casting shadows

Receive is the object to have shadows casted on it

1, Example cast and receive both ticked for simobjects
A car is driving down the road casting its own shadows on the road, the it passes a truck on the road the trucks shadow will be casted on the car (this is what real life would be)

    2, Cast on receive off
Car casts a shadow, passes a truck with a shadow however the car will not be affected by the trucks shadow so no visual difference in colour or tint

    3, Cast off receive off
No shadows for that type of objects

1 is the most realistic looking but come at a cpu cost
    2 less cpu required
    3 no shadows

Its purely up to you how you want it to look but each option has its own pros and cons in regards visuals vs cpu loads

Unlike FSX where cars dont cast shadows, p3d everything has the ability now to do both

    Its a double edge sword
