    Layouts and GSL

Can a Layout be saved to a GSL file other than the default cfs2.gsl,for instance from one of Maskriders Airfields?
I am using the MB to create and save the Layout. I think you might be able to do it but I am not sure. I have not tried to do it yet until I hear from the SOH Scenery Gurus. Thanks.

    Steve Klein,

    1) What type of airfield layout are you referencing? If you are talking about guns, ships, and vehicles, you never want to include them in the GSL file, because the weapons, vehicles, and ships will not fire in a mission.

    2) If you want to save any layout, what you do is highlight all of the objects by holding down the SHIFT key and then dragging the mouse over the area where the objects are placed. Once they are all highlighted in green, you then hold down the SHIFT key and press "W," this will allow you to name and save the layout.

    3) If you are modifying the airfield for a different era (i.e. a 1943-1944 layout vs a 1939-1940 layout) then what you need to do is get a copy of Martin Wright's GSL editor. Once you save the layout as instructed above, you can save the layout using this tool as an individual .gob file. (Make sure to run the layout through his .gob checker as well to ensure that the layout you are saving does not lie within multiple .gobs) The .gob checker will also give you the actual number of the .gob, so that you can then use the GSL editor to find the same numbered .gob file within the cfs2.gsl and either replace it with your version, or extract MaskRider's original .gob file and layout so you can swap between the two.

    If that makes sense...
