    SWS F-4N repaints

    Hi,

I've seen the Milviz J/S model got some repaints - anyone know of any repaints for the B/N model? Ideally a later period B or N, transitional scheme ...

My personal fave N is this lovely scheme from the early 80s ...

I've not seen anything on the SWS forums either, so if anyone knows of any repaints, I'd be much obliged.

    cheers,

    dl

EDIT: I should add I'm aware of Astub's great USAF adaptation paints. Was asking about USN/USMC.

    Hello DL!

You can get the repaint package from the F-4 product page, which includes quite a few real and fictional schemes. I have already done the VMFA-531 scheme you mentioned and will be released in this paint package after the next patch is out.

Edit: No, that isn't the VMFA-531 era I did. This is the one:

    Thanks Alex,

Yes, that VMF-531 bird in your screenshot is my favourite of the schemes that the latest installer came with. I hadn't seen the separate repaint pack until now, though, and quickly scanning, I see that there's a late period VF-154 transition scheme in the vein of what I was hoping for. So that will be very much appreciated and enjoyed.

If feasible, here's a lovely scheme from VMFA-321 that's gorgeous, and different from either the full high vis of the 70s and the full low vis TPS worn by the J/S models at the very end of their life:

    https://www.markstyling.com/f_4.usmc.05.htm (3rd from top)
http://www.detailandscale.com/f-4b-n...photo_set.html (left column, 2nd from top)

Would really fill in the last gap in schemes this model wore operationally - but now worries if not doable.

Thanks again either way, and for the paints in the pack, and in advance for the patch.

    cheers,

    dl

Quick question .... I've noticed when the Phantom is sitting on the runway prior to run up, one side of the a/c's wheel hubs are bright white and if I pan to the starboard side all the wheel hubs are dark ?? wonder if this is a shadow effect ?? . Have you noticed this with any of your SWS F4's ?

    Hi AC,

Yes, I pointed this out when I was still on the beta team a good year or more ago. Alex et al are aware, and have tried to address it, but as of the last build, is still there and apparently is not fixable. I'm sure he can comment more on the why.

Not sure if it's one of the items on the patch or not - I'm sure he can comment on that too.

A mild annoyance at first, but I've stopped noticing it. And the model being lovely in every other respect, it just doesn't bother me.

I hate to be a bringer-downer, or contradictory, but I was stationed at MCAS Yuma in 1981. Hate the place too.

Anywho, the only squadrons we had based there permanently at that time were VMFAT-101, who I was with, and VMFAT-102, an A-4 squadron. We also had VMFAT-513, a Harrier squadron.
I was FAPed out to AIMD Avionics, I-Level Maintenance, so we saw gear from every squadron stationed at MCAS Yuma, and I never saw anything from '321, unless they were passing through and broke, or they were there for WTI. During WTI, though, they usually brought their own O-Level Maintenance people, and sent their gear back to their home base for their AIMD to fix.
If the plane you showed in your first link, the VMFA-321 bird, 3rd from the top, was there, it was for WTI. NOT a permanent squadron, as the caption to the picture seems to indicate.

    Just a heads up.

BTW: My avatar, right under my name, is '101's squadron insignia

    Have fun, all!

It would be nice to see more reprints for the Phantom. Preferably F-4B of Atlantic based squadrons such as VF-14, 32, 33, 41, 74.
