Thanks - now the flight deck is also getting nearer even if the texture is still just a shot from Google Earth.

Will it be feasible to paint HMS Dragon's bow marking?

The model is mapped so both sides of the bow can be painted with increased detail compared to the rest of the hull... I had exactly that red dragon in mind.

Thanks for the comments - unfortunately I'm again travelling without my simulator so it will take a while before she sees the waves. Meanwhile three different versions were completed including different armament - with/without Harpoon anti-ship missiles - and with or without the railing down and ready for heli operations. Lights are still not satisfactory, but it will come.

You will certainly have more than one with open hangar - the three you see are just base models. Regards to further animations - so far just radars are animated - I will look into it. However, I need everything to be very robust and operational accross platforms and 32 bits and 64 bits as I don't have time to manage updates for the now more than 1000 models in the project everytime Lockheed Martin decides to update P3D. It has been a problem for some with the original packages installed that four of the oldest models made P3D crash´due to incompatible animations so that I want to avoid.

None of my models are done with LODs..... Performance is kept through discipline with vertices and draw calls. You might have seen the discussion with Klaus here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/108625-Ships-from-German-Navy-Bundesmaine Sketchup is a nightmare for vertices - GMAX puts it's own narrow limits, which can be cheated but I don't... These are AI models and I try to keep them fairly light removing all unnecessary vertices. Generally my models only have 1 day texture and 1 night texture... I have to admit I have gone to the extreme with the Type 45 and added a special texture for the flight deck... 4 draw calls and mdl size at 2 MB. Once out at sea that means no impact - of course if I add the whole navy in Portsmouth you might see some impact.

I am starting with the tanker - then the combined version afterwards. Seems like at least some of the piping is common between the two versions.

Thanks for doing this Henrik!

This conversion has been one of the most important and interesting projects I was involved with lately. These are very rare ships. Some of the details not seen by many that are not into the shipping industry:

- These must be the only VLCC size tankers with a forecastle, because the original ships also had hatch covers and the forecastle is a means of protection for these openings forward.
- If you notice, there are no major cargo pipes running on the deck. All of the cargo delivery pipes leading to the manifolds amidships are recessed inside tunnels below deck.
- The hose handling cranes on the manifolds are different port and starboard. This is because the port crane is actually a bulk cargo crane for unloading ore cargo. The ship had 6 of these on the port side before the conversion to handle the ore from the holds. Five of them were removed during the conversion, leaving only the midship one on the port side. The one on the starboard side is a usual hose handling crane.

The other differences are inside the holds and not visible from outside.

Looking forward to seeing them in the sim.

Hi
Your second point actually at least partly explains something I was wondering about. Compared to conventional crude oïl tankers the number of pipes on the deck is very low, which of course makes it a bit easier to model. When the cargo delivery pipes are below deck I guess that many of the visible pipes are actually for ventilation or fire fighting purposes?
Henrik

Dimus
April 2nd, 2018, 12:38
You're quite correct Henrik. The pipes are safety and utility systems.

- Fire (water) and foam pipes
- Inert gas supply to "blanket" the top of the tanks
- What they call "Crude oil washing" pipes. Some oil is bled off the delivery lines to be "sprayed" under pressure on the tank walls as they are emptied and "wash" the sticky oil down. The same pipes can be fed with water when the tanks will need to be deeply washed for maintenance.

Don't they keep the flammable liquid tanks, IE aircraft fuel and so on, constantly topped with inert gas? Or is it only during flight ops? I don't remember...

Just curious.

I was actually referring to the large crude oil tanker. Inert gas is always used in oil cargo tanks, and I'm sure it is used also in warships, especially in low flash point fuels.

Some warships (I mean all the ones I've been on) use sea water for the main fuel tanks which prevents vapour build up and handily keeps the centre of gravity, and hence stability, more or less the same. There are a series of separators to make sure fuel and water then go to the right place!
I'm oddly not sure what they do for the AVCAT tanks though so you may be correct about that part.

I thought so. Didn't that come out of that 747 that crashed near a Navy boat doing excersizes a while back? Lots of talk about a misguided missile, or a major cover-up, and so on.

I was thinking about the military boats, but thanks for the info about the planes. I do appreciate it.
I wonder if military planes have the fuel tank inertion required as well. Not necessarily the big transporters, like the C-17, which I would think is a given, but the fast-movers. Fighters, S-3's COD's, things like that. I've never noticed anything in a NATOPS about it, but I wasn't looking for it, either. I'll have to do some research...

Hmmm...

putting water in a fuel tank is huge risk, if your oily water separator fails, your pretty much F#@ked, it has to be at least sea state 6 and above before even think that would be an option, ive served on patrol boats about 50m long we wont even do that due to risk we just punch on spewing out guts up until it flattens out or go down sea and find a place to hide until it abaits, the FFGs ive been on also wont do due to the gas turbines.

the past 10 yrs its now international law that all tankers are to be double hulled to prevent spillage during a collision or grounding, after spending a few yrs on a naval tanker, the voids in between the hulls are used to stability, all tankers have breather tubes to each tank to avoid the build up of gas during tank expansion due to environment heating, or Liquid Gas carriers, while the gas is compressed into a liquid it remains cold and there are no natural vents, they only fitted with emergency vents and some of them the vents are below the water line

from past 23 yrs in the job and experiences as from Boarding/inspection teams

combustible tankers ie diesel/ avgas and bulk crude have natural vents and you can smoke up to 7-5m away from the vents
flammable tankers ir gas or refined petrol have emergency venting, and these ships have a smoking room internal of the ship
Bulk grain have natural venting but also have a mist system in the hold ( I hate grain ships as the risk of explosion is 1000s of times greater than a gas or fuel tanker its always in the back of your mind if you need to discharge your weapons how close you are to a vent and how much a bigger bang you will cause to ruin your and everyone else's day)

again by international law any vessel that carries a pollutant are required to be doubled hulled, besides the standard stability/ballast tanks, the void between the hulls are used for additional stability, Ive search 100s of tankers over the years in the Arabian gulf or the gulf of Oman or my neighbourhood,, I havent seen any ships that fill fuel tanks with sea water, just the thought of doing that and having your water separator failing, will cost millions in contaminated fuel, the main purpose of each tanks water separator is to remove water in the fuel form condensation, but to have something several 800cz plus tanks deliberately filled water isnt a smart move

plus modern ships have some of the best motion control systems fitted where you wouldnt even know its rough outside unlike 20yrs ago where they made very little difference

Jeansy, it seems that in many terms we are in a similar line of work. I work for a Class Society, even though I rarely survey ships these days. All things you said on cargo ships are correct. I was also surprised to hear that water is put into fuel tanks. This is a big no-no in commercial vessels, although warships are a different breed.

Stay safe when you're out there.

cheers buddy, im now behind a desk writing policy so a very dull change in work in comparison to what i used do, anyway it was time to get both the shoulders reconstructed again, hopefully by the end of the yr im back out doing what i normally do

the only difference with Naval ships is they are built with more watertight compartments, and have backup life-support systems in which i mean redundancies for the combat, damage control and propulsion systems, the old days of armour plating and all the other crap you hear or see on docos or classic war movies no longer exist

the design of a warship is based on combat and survivability, things like crew living spaces and minor details like that are the last thing designed, unlike civil ships its cargo and propulsion come first in the design process

besides combat, damage control and propulsion systems the next major system which could bring a warship to a grinding halt or return to port is the soft serve ice cream machine, if you loose the ice cream machine moral vanishes quicker than when you loose the air con units

Certainly the Type 22 and Type 42 definitely used sea water compensation, I remember helping take a fuel/water separator apart on the former as well as having to learn all the details for my fleet board. I'm not as certain about the Type 23 as I didn't spend a lot of time in the engine spaces. Never been on a Type 45 so don't know what they do. Although in retrospect that's the only one that isn't a 30+ year old design...

Hey, the ice-cream systems are a vital life-support feature. Absolutely critical. Without Ice-cream, how can the crew function at all?? Air Con is one thing, but Ice-Cream...sheesh, that's like the oxygen systems in military aircraft. No way for the crew to function without it.
And the funny thing is, it's been like that since at least WWII. Read some stories about the Marines in the Pacific. A great deal of effort and time was spent on either trying to get ahold of ice-cream, or Navy females. :biggrin-new: :couple_inlove:

A Global ship traffic package must be diverse... and as you see a lot of new ferries for Greece... and more to come....

Thanks I hope I will some time finish the next update so it can also be enjoyed but new ideas pop up and these days the weather is too nice to work on the computer...

Henrik, those sailing vessels are insane. Looking forward to those.

There was talk of some "classic/retro" (50s-60s) era cargo and passenger liners. Is that something on your horizon?

Regardless, I'll look to add the sloops and square riggers - those will fit nicely in my retro setup.

Thanks again for your hard work.

Hi If you look deep in the packages you will already find around 90-100 ships relevant for the 60'ies - more will come. Notice that some of them are not activated so you will not usually see them e.g. AI_Korsholm, AI_SS_Martha, AI_Jean_Yvan, AI_Esso_Sao_Paulo... Others are activated as they still sail like AI_Funchal, AI_Samka or AI_Skogoy and yet others like AI_Galapagos Legend and AI_SD_14, AI_Victoria_Class_WWII have additional classic repaints beyond those active. Take a look with Modelconverterx through the files and you will find a lot... :D

Hi
You will need to download from www.avsim.com (http://www.avsim.com) or www.simviation.com (http://www.simviation.com) or www.flightsimnorway.com (http://www.flightsimnorway.com) - I have not uploaded here, simply because it is often time consuming to upload and keep updating on too many sites.

Look for:

Global AI Ship Traffic V1
200 AI Ships and AI Ship Traffic V2

There is actually a Halifax class frigate include already in the main package Global AI Ship Traffic V1 - done by Jean-Pierre Fillion.

No, I haven't done a Queen Elizabeth class carrier - you might look for the one by CIMOGT - however, the next update will have quite a lot of Royal Navy units - Type 45 destroyers, Type 21 frigates, HMS Ocean, HMS Illustrious, and if time allows also the Round Table class and maybe even more... ;) That adds to HMS Forth and the Type 23 and the Broadsword class already included. We are moving well beyond 1000 ships now...

Please consider on the HMS Ocean having Apache choppers on it. Here's a good read why: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01CJHWUZO/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_mzgQBbRJY72GZ , Apaches Over Libya. Yup, in the 2011 campaign to remove Qaadafi the Brits sent Apaches from the HMS Ocean to do some strikes.

PhantomTweak

I think, maybe, your trouble may be a space, believe it or not.

The syntax looks like this:

[formation.2]
title=Lone cruiser
unit.0=CG-49, 0, 0

Look on the unit.X= line. Note that there's no space between the 9 in CG-49, and the comma following it.
I've found that a space there can cause what you're experiencing. I won't swear that spaces between the spacial coordinate numbers and their comma's won't have the same effect, but I'm not certain of that. Note that there also is not a space between the unit.X= and the ship's title.

Another thing to take note of is that the ships designator following the = sign MUST be exactly, preceisely, as it appears in the ship's sim.cfg file in the sim's Simobjects\Boats folder. Just as an example (and it doesn't match my previous example, sorry) is:

[fltsim.0]
title=SS-581_USS_Blueback
model=
texture=

Note the Title= line. The entry in the AICarriers.cfg file, or whatever .cfg file you use (I'll get to that in a second), must be an exact copy of that. I always use the copy-n-paste system to ensure I get them right.

As to .cfg files: It's a BAD idea, IMHO to keep adding more and more entries into the original, basic, aicarriers.cfg file. Why, you may ask?
I am glad you asked. If you keep adding more and more [formation.X] entries into your original aicarriers.cfg file that came with the download, it will very quickly become so long as to be unusable. You will end up having to search through page after page of the menu in the sim to find the Formation you want. Takes a rediculous length of time.
What you want to do is create new .cfg files for each set of formations (which can also mean a single ship, btw) you will want to use. Like for example, a .cfg file for all your Nimitz boats, one for all your Soviet carriers, one for the WWII type carriers, etc etc. Store all the different .cfg files in a folder under the AICarriers\conf.d folder. Like ...\AICarriers\conf.d\Store, or whatever you want to call it. Then, you can place the .cfg file you want to use into the conf.d folder, and when you want to use a different one, just remove the one in the conf.d folder, and copy another one into the conf.d folder. Less is better, in this case.
Don't MOVE .cfg files into the conf.d folder, COPY them in there from your sub-folder. That way, when you go to change them out, you can just delete the one in the conf.d folder, and copy-n-paste another in there.

Hope this helps a little get you started using AICarriers.
I hope you're using AICarriers.NET, not the original, JAVA based version, by the way...

Have fun with it!
Pat☺

Pat☺

ok thanks for your reply , whilst I deeply appreciate the work that the makers do it would be really helpful for the AI Carriers info to be included , it would make it so much easier , thank you

Hi
Nice screenies :D I will send it to you for testing as soon as it gets the finale texture; and there will be more Chinese stuff... I just started on the newest destroyer of the Chinese navy - the Type 55. It is still in a very, very early phase just getting the basic hull shape. It has taken some time to get the documentation right - there is plenty of guesswork around this ship and plenty of bad drawings, so now it is getting done using satelite imagery and some good pictures from the first sea trial.

PS... Is the Liaoning yours?

See? You're doing it again. Look at your post. All the places you put a comma, you put a space both before AND after it. :dizzy:
Just make sure you, or your KB if that's doing it for you, doesn't do that when creating the AICarriers .cfg files. :encouragement:

BTW: A lot of devs of single ships, if they're designed to be AI ships, have a AICarriers config file included. Not all, but many. Double check the download file for one. It may be unobtrusive (hows that for a big word, huh??), but there may be one there someplace. Some put them into the ship's folder you drop into your ...\Simobjects\Boats folder, some are in the download zipfile someplace else. Anyway, it's going to have the file designation of .CFG. Take a look around for it.
There may not be one, very true, but there may be :D

Hi kl791

...more chinese stuff..like the new Typ 55.. this sounds devilishly good... I´m curious about how the ship will look like...
Thank you for your offer to test the new corvette. When it´s due I like to test it and to give you my feedback.
Regarding the Liaoning I have to tell you that it´s payware from flyfreestd. The ship is part of their Mig 29 K/KUB FSX package
From my point of view this model is the best choice of the available russian Kuznetsov classships for fsx... notably for carrier traps too...

First thanks RS for adding the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) to the FSX fleet.

Now do AI FSX ships just transfer over to P3DV4 or what?

Thanks... about to finally make the leap to P3D.

Hi,
Yes and no... The models compiled for FSX displays fine in P3Dv4 - actually even better than in FSX - however, some changes must be done to the sim.cfg to prevent ships from capsizing or even flying... yes, adjusting water realism to Ultra with dynamic waves makes some larger models fly or sink... The solution is the add
ition of one line in the sim.cfg and reducing the radius of the mdl; The mdl center point might also need adjustment for the ship to have a decent behavior with dynamic waves. And finally another issue is the wake effects where certain parameters must be added or omitted... Models FS9 must be recompiled for FSX in order to not make trouble.

The work on the Type 55 destroyer continues - unfortunately I miss some documentation on the helideck, so I will probably have to take a break from this one. The ship is so new that the number of good close ups is limited.

Meanwhile for comparison... From left to right US Navy Arleigh Burke class destroyer USS Bainbridge - Chinese Navy Type 55 destroyer Renhai - Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer HMS Duncan - Chinese Navy Type 52C destroyer - and Chinese Navy Type 54 frigate. The new Chinese is a by all means giant...

Thanks... But despite what they claim on Southfront.org the picture doesn't show a Type 55 but instead shows a Type 52D - the Type 55 has a very different and stealthy chimney block and antena masts.

You won't get a complete navy here as in Ripcord's US Navy project, but you will get the most significant units from the Royal Navy, the Brazilian Navy, the Chilean Navy, the Royal Danish Navy, the Royal Norwegian Navy, the Chinese Navy, the Spanish Navy plus diverse units from Thailand, Taiwan, Egypt, Romania, Germany, France, Moroco, Pakistan, Canada, and even a few US Navy ships... Plus of course around 1000 civilian ships... I have set a deadline before Christmas the year - that will be 20 months after the last mayor release and this will be the so far most comprehensive package.

I actually think this ship is from Misty Moorings - they repainted the standard ships. At least I have not done this one.

This was exactly what I was looking for - a decent view of the flight deck. Thanks a lot. Yesterday I flew straight over the yard in Shanghai where half of them are being built but to my big disappoint it was foggy and rainy and we got into dense clouds before passing over the yard. Still remains to confirm the pennant numbers,

Love the landing craft type ferry! So typical of Greek waters! Thanks!

On note however. To my knowledge, logs are always carried in the longitudinal direction on the deck. The stanchions on the side keep them from slipping to the sea:

LOL! Stay away from insurance claims! they are a pain!

Actually, the timber on deck, when packed and stowed correctly can be taken into account as additional buoyancy by regulation, and the ship can load even deeper than its normal loadline.

Thanks… I have to say I limited myself to let the boats visit the ports from the race; and I let "Vestas" come first at least once and I didn't crash it against an atoll in the Indian Ocean like it happend in the race... (Need to mention that I have a few friends who used to work at Vestas, so better be polite…)

A new countdown has started - I am at home in Denmark - files are ready and Friday it will be released.

Over the summer I did get inspired to do some smaller models - mostly fishing boats - but also some Navy ships... All in all close to 1100 ships will be included in the release.

It depends if you have installed all previously fixes - there is one folder from the very first package from 2013 - "AI_Hyundai_Container", which I will recommend to remove - the rest is not necessary - you can just overwrite.

I hope some of the other users can help you giving some advise for an xml file, which is the method to use if you want to be able to uninstall easily - it is the third option in the installation guide, however it depends on which drive you want to use for the installation - one of the beta testers - Knud - has it installed on his H-drive with the following xml

<SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on">
<AddOn.Name>Global AI Ship Traffic V2</AddOn.Name>
<AddOn.Description>Global AI Shipping by Henrik Nielsen</AddOn.Description>

<Category>SimObjects</Category>
<Path>h:\Global AI Ship Traffic V2\SimObjects\Boats</Path>

</AddOn.Component>
<AddOn.Component>
<Category>Sound</Category>
<Path>h:\Global AI Ship Traffic V2\Sound</Path>
</AddOn.Component>
</SimBase.Document>

I do not use this method my self - I have everything copied into the standard folders, which is annoying for removal but is quick and dirty for installation - 30 seconds to copy the four folders from the zip and drop them in the sim, but I am also still stuck on P3Dv3 waiting for a new PC an starting everything from scratch....

SimV is my source of last resort because of the speed, but fortunately the process at FSNorway was painless and reasonably quick. A couple of abortive tries, probably due to the hordes grabbing the file, but switching to the second server got it done in a few minutes.

Thank you Henrik, et al, for this labour of love. The additional ships and routes will only make it better than what I've enjoyed with V.1. Using LittleNavMap makes it easy to see what might be in the area worth investigating... most recently, off the coast of New England:

If you click the server B button at the bottom of the flightsimnorway you will get a somewhat slower 2mb/s connection but it is stable. Flightsimnorway has had a tremendous increase in traffic as it so far despite mails to both avsim and flightsim.com has not been possible to upload there, so the Norwegian site moved more than a terrabyte in 24 hours

For those thinking about a nice little flight for a summer evening I would recommend a trip from Sandefjord Torp in Norway departing around 19:50 local time in summer (17:50 GMT) towards the Southwest to coast near Nevlunghavn where a Tall Ship Race departs around 20:00 local time (18:00 GMT) - the return can go North above the Oslo fjord

With the latest package uploaded, it is time to continue on an old idea - classic shipping - and with the below model time has turned back 37 years to 1982 and the time of the Falkland War. Still some work to do including adding a hard deck and a bunch of Harriers and Chinooks.

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=72037&stc=1

The Global Shipping package includes a lot of classic ships both navy and civilian, some of them are still sailing today and thus activated on routes in the package, others are "dormant" in the package e.g. several Royal Navy ships from the eighties - now some more will be added covering the period from the late sixties to the early eighties in other words, the ships I used to see when I was a kid and took my bicycle down to the harbour.

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=72038&stc=1
HMS Ambuscade which sailed with Atlantic Conveyor, when it was attacked in the Southern Atlantic
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=72039&stc=1
HMS Broadsword, another Falkland veteran.

The intention is also to do a version of HMS Hermes, but I still haven't found good detailed drawings.

Hi Henrik,

Check your PMs a set of plans for Hermes should come through...they aren't great as they are sectioned up (I got photocopies from a modelmaker who was building Hermes)...I 'welded' the individual images together in photoshop to get a sort-of complete plan. I can't find my welded image but i've sent you the original set - hopefully these might help.

Type 42 plans would help to double check what i've built so far especially if they have the complete hull:

Absolutely excellent - plan received :jump: And the two ladies look great! We should soon have the whole collection. I will forward the plan of the Type 42 in PM. It doesn't have the hull lines as the typical model building plans, but it appears to be an original General Arrangement with both below and above the surface. I also have another a smaller scale with part of the line structure.

Both the new models we are working on and the recently released package has been done to work in FSX as well as all versions of P3D. However, that also means that we have not added v4 specific things like PBR.

Henrik, the ships are wonderful. A few years ago I told you about using ARS4 radar by Dietmar Loleit with my Lockheed patrol plane as a means of locating shipping. I recently deleted everything from earlier downloads and got the complete V2 package from Simviation. I have found that there are absolutely none of your ships on the Great Lakes. I have flown a number of searches from Duluth, Thunder Bay, Cleveland, Toledo etc. Nothing shows on the radar and a visual search confirms it. Using the ship locator fails to produce anything. The bgl files are in place and the ships are in the boat directory. I can see plenty of ships everywhere else. Running AIFP3 looking for FS9 files showed nothing and, anyway, wouldn't those files block everything, not just one area? I do have other AI files in the sim but removed them and the Lakes are still empty.
This must be my local problem. All I am asking here is if anyone who has downloaded the latest V2 from Simviation can verify Lakes traffic.
As the pope said to Michelangelo at the Sistine Chapel, "When will you make an end?"

Are you sure you don't have an old FS9 style traffic bgl hidden somewhere - either among the other traffic files in the scenery/world/scenery or eventually included in some local add-on scenery. As the rest of your ships display I am almost certain that is the problem. A local FS9 file with traffic in just a limited area will only cause a problem when it is loaded while flying in that area. You should have plenty of shipping on the lakes and now with the new update also a decent shipping on the Mississipi and a few other rivers.

...

Another subject... Work on the Falkland package continues... Today my first plane... Obviously as a shipbuilder my plane will never fly, but it should become a nice eye candy on the HMS Hermes and the Atlantic Conveyor...

Well, obviously it is in my corner. I will proceed from here.
Nice looking jet you have on the boards. I like the UK ship Cornwall, did a lot of work for the UK navy on her and also the Iron Duke.
Thanks for the reply. I will find that pesky FS9 file somehow.

Good Christmas !

You should soon be able to use that Harrier :D I actually tried to keep the texture on the harriers on the deck of the Atlantic Conveyor so they match the colors of the Wilco Harrier :D

Meanwhile some progress on the Round Table class - it has taken some time to get around the many different versions of this type and the lack of proper drawings, but now I am getting there.

A slight deviation from the 1982 project... This modernized and slightly larger version of the round table class was born as RFA Sir Galahad as replacement for the ship with the same name sunk during the Falklands War. Later it came as many other British navy ships under Brazilian flag and was renamed BrNs Garcia d'Avila. It was recently decommissioned in October 2019.

Hi Henrik

first I wish a happy new year to you and all other SOH guys...

A new HMS Hermes - whenever ready - would be a great addition. The only available model for FSX (Rem.: ...to my knowledge...) appears to be very "basic"...

When I take in account how many carriers are available or got done for FSX/P3D last year alone you have to look very hard to find one fundamental type of carrier which isn´t done for the sims.

Whenever your "Royal Navy Falkland Task Force" rules the sea... other ships from you could already be detected today in this secluded region...

Hi Henrik, just a few questions before I download :

1) Does this V2 provide any AI ship traffic around Catalina Island ?

I just downloaded Orbx's Catalina Island and finding it a bit deserted in the harbour and on the waters surrounding this scenery.

2) Also, is V2 all I need to download the entire updated package ?

3) Can I install manually into FSX (SP1&2), as I like to keep track of where things are installed in FSX, and what files belong to what addon, so I can go back if need be, to original setup (highly unlikely, ... but it doesn't hurt to leave all options open) ?

Thank-you, Henrik, for this great AI addon.

Hi
Compared to earlier packages V2 does not really add new traffic around Catalina Island, however it does have additional traffic compared to default.

The Global AI Ship Traffic V2 available on simviation here https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=Global+AI+Ship+Traffic+V2&categoryId= or at flightsimnorway https://www.flightsimnorway.com/download/download_adm.php?pack=aishipsn contains everything previously released and all corrections.

You can manually install the traffic files in FSX scenery add-on folder and declare them there; the ships however should be in the boats folder. However due to naming of files and folders it is actually quite easy to keep track also with the standard installation.

Best regards
Henrik

Hi Henrik,

Thank-you, for the fast reply.

The only AI ship traffic I currently have is this one :

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/94239-Five-HMS-Bounty-AI-Traffic-Files-zip?p=956703&viewfull=1#post956703

which includes Milton Shupe's latest AI version of the HMS Bounty (and a Two Harbours - Avalon route). I assume I can keep this without any problems alongside your program ?

I think your AI ship traffic program also has a version of HMS Bounty ? Can I delete one, if so which one ? Or keep both ?

Last question, to turn all AI ship traffic 'off', I would set the ship/pleasure boat traffic slider in FSX to '0', correct ? , What is the recommended setting to see 'all' ship/boat traffic ? Is it '5' or '10' ? I read somewhere too high settings will cause default FSX ships/boats to appear (which IMHO would be less desirable) ?

Thanks, again for all your help.

Hi
I did not have time to test but the presence of an afcad in the version you have worries me a bit - the routes in the traffic you have could be done FS9 style and then be incompatible. Maybe someone here can confirm compatibility as I will head to work.

The folder names and the entries in the sim.cfg for the two Bounty versions have different names, so you can keep both versions. It is the traffic files which can cause problems and must eventually be removed.

Your ship/boat traffic must be 5 % to have the Global AI Ship Traffic - If you set it higher you will start getting a lot of default traffic, lower and you will have no traffic...

Hi Henrik,

Worst case scenario, I will get rid of these files and just keep yours as I'd like water traffic all over the world with your stunning AI models.
The only route I would miss is the Two Harbours - Avalon route at Catalina.
I guess I can test by keeping the above traffic file, download yours, set slider for boat/ship traffic to 5%, and if I get no AI traffic on the waters there that will tell me it's incompatible, and then I would delete this one and keep yours.

Thank-you, for your feedback.

If you dig in the folders in Global AI SHip Traffic V2 you will find both Victory Class, Liberty Class and T2 tankers from WWII, which you could easily convert to static models.
