View Full Version : Britsim Trouble ???

For the past several days I haven't been able to reach Britsim. I would just get an error page: "The connection was reset."

Today I got that page plus a notice from my Norton AV that it "...blocked an attack by Web Attack Mass Injection Website 19."

When I click the Details link I get a Norton page that says that analysis found seventeen security risks on the site.

Here's the page on the Norton site:

https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.britsim.com%2Findex.php% 2Fen%2F&product=NAV&version=22.5.5.15&lang=0901&source=toolbar

Is anyone else seeing this? Is it real, or is it just my system seeing things that aren't there?

Your not alone ,I've had problems with Britsim for the past couple of weeks. My AVG says there's a virus. From the Classic British Sim forums people in Britain are also having problems. The site was was back briefly last week but went down again.

Thanks!

I've been having strange confuter issues, so I didn't know if there was really something going on, or if it was just my rig acting up.

Your reply took a load off my mind!

I like Britsim; I hope they get it straightened out. It stinks that they're having trouble again after all the work Rob put into getting it fixed up and back on line.

Looks like not, on this side of the Channel. :/

Just tried myself, and I got a "could not display" page, PLUS a "Norton has blocked an attack by Web Attack Mass Injection Website 19" notice as well...

Works OK for me in France. Possible no entry or warning due to adverts before log in?

Also here in the Lowlands is has the same effect: Avast blocked it: reporting a JS:Injection-A [Trj] Infection.

Must be the devil or murphy's law, that a so wonderful site can't be reached.

Also in the Netherlands (using Google Chrome, McAfee, and the KPN provider) it works fine. :-)

Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice said...

Curious how folks in some places can get in and those in other places get blocked. I'd have thought that it would be the same no matter where someone is located.

I'm in the US and I'm still getting that same attack message from Norton. Nothing from Microsoft's built in security stuff, presumably because Norton isn't letting it get that far.

Since Avast is also blocking it, it's not just a Norton glitch. Others are getting in, and that suggests that either Norton and Avast are both wrong, or those who are getting in have AV that can block an attack without blocking the whole site, or they're getting infected and don't know it yet. I wish we could figure out which of those possibilities is the case.

How annoying.

I just tried Britsim again and my AVG detected two viruses which it deleted. Before I was just getting one virus or a "page not found".

I've got Opera & Sophos on my W8.1 tower, with no comments from either. But my W10 laptop using Opera & AVG payware denies access & give 3 blocked threats of HTML/Framer which AVG 'secured'.
Interesting.....

W7 and Firefox w/TrendMicro
intersting indeed . Going directly to the britsim dot com/index.php/ it worked fine until I tried to log in then got "Warning Unable to connect to LDAP server". For kicks I did a search for Britsim and clicking on the search result got me to multiple re-directs to an unrelated site(s). No warning from TrendMicro (which tends to be aggressive about some sites).
