Needing some advise on buying a new camera. It is going to be a gift for my mother. I know very little about cameras and she knows even less. She wants some thing to take digital pictures with. Something simple to use.

I don't keep up with gear so can't really help with an answer.
However, this site might be useful to you:

Robert,
Does your Mom have a Smartphone? That might be the most convenient option since you have both a good quality, easy to use Camera with the ability to quickly distribute the photos (e-mail, Texts, etc.).
Of course, if that's too 'techno', then a good, basic Point & Shoot would work just fine.

Thanks for the replies. No smartphone. Looks like a basic point and shoot will be it.

Robert,
One other thing... get the largest capacity Memory Card the camera can handle. That way, your Mom won't have to worry about running out of Photo space!

Right. I brought a couple of memory cards and two batteries with charger.

Robert,
IMHO, Sony is a pretty simple camera - here's a simple one...

This Fujifilm is a bit more intricate...

Yep. I was looking at the Sony cameras. Ordered one and will give it a try.

Robert,
When you get it, give us a PIREP about it, and your observations!
