3D figures.... :encouragement: NC

I do have to say, however, that the screenshot reminds me of "The Walking Dead"!

Some that could be used for filler around Terminals or by an aircraft, but I wish someone would do maintenance types. . .figures that would look natural in the hangar, servicing aircraft. Not sure how to explain it better, but so many figures look "stiff", like they're in a model studio for a fashion shoot.

These are nice and could liven up a scenery. They may also fit in the one I'm working on. Thanks for the link!

I'm with you on that one. Do you mean crouched down or stood up as if there working on something stuff like that??

Exactly! Figures always seem to be posed as fashion models, or dressed as tourists or business people.

I'm workin' on it. I'm workin' on it.

Mind you, if I ever get this figure to look human, it'll be a figure that looks vaguely human wearing WW2 RAF kit. ;)

lol, yep that is a challenge it seems. . .making them "look" human. I wonder if a program like "Poser" could be used for something like this. If the poly count wasn't ridiculously high it might I guess.

Not 3d figures, but there was a library of CFS 2 objects that was converted for use with EZ Scenery in FS9 that had a bunch of Navy sailors wearing the work uniform in various poses including a group in formation. I scattered them around NAS Pensacola.

Oh, I definitely like the idea of differently posed figures! Maintenance types would be cool, and (this will not come as a surprise) I would really like to see some 3D figures for aircraft carrier decks and hangars! :encouragement: NC

Poser would work, or DAZ 3D, which is free. Blender is free also. There's a HUGE repository of CG at ShareCG that are free, mostly all that's asked is a credit if you use it.

I have/use both Poser and DAZ (My personal preference is DAZ Studio) and the answer is that those models are completely unsuitable - they're vastly too high poly and the texture count (draw calls) is abysmal - they're designed for creating high fidelity graphic art or videos, not for use in FSX. One of the female models I have has over 100 textures, total - Poser fell over every time I tried to create a texture atlas to export in Collada format!

Project Human looks like it may be the way to go and, again, it's free. I, however, bought a cheap German soldier model off Turbosquid, but he's in .max format and when I got a friend to export him to .3ds (I only had a trial of MAX - I normally use Blender - and missed the time-out on the trial. D'OH!) I lost the bones, so need to rebone him. Once that's done, I'll model over him to create a more appropriate model than I have got so far for British Earmen, er, Airmen.

(Edit: This is the guy I have... http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-ww2-german-soldier/236061)

Just for the record, DAZ Studio is free, yes, but you'll be paying through the nose for models! They have some extremely good deals for PC+ Members at the moment, though. There's a massive amount of free stuff at Renderosity, but the quality of it can vary very widely.
