View Full Version : Aircraft not starting on flightdeck

Hi All
I have a problem with a ship that I am making.
The aircraft starts in the in the 'middle' of the ship, below the flightdeck and the ship passes it by and it falls int the sea.
I also think that ther is no 'deck' to land on.
I have had this problem once before, and I am pretty sure that Bloodhawk knows how to fix it.
Cheers
Stuart

PS I have tried starting further forward but to no avail.

The CFG File for my ship is:

Hey Stuart,

Ok I'm looking at it right now, I have to break it down so I can follow the flow. Please bear with me.

vertex.0=-6.605,18.888,-57.293
vertex.1=-13.5,18.888,-53.141
vertex.2=-13.5,18.888,-47.903
vertex.3=-13.5,18.888,112.9
vertex.4=13.5,18.888,112.9
vertex.5=13.5,18.888,-47.903
vertex.6=13.5,18.888,-53.141
vertex.7=6.605,18.888,-57.293

now lets look at the rules...

"vertices should be defined in model coordinates, and counter-clockwise order when viewed from above."

You have point one as starting right side at 6.605 m, height is 18.888 m, it is a 57.293 forward from the middle. This might be the start of you problem.

Look at this one from the Aoba.

vertex.0=10.00,9.65,-30.00
vertex.1=10.00,9.65,-50.00
vertex.2=-10.00,9.65,-50.00
vertex.3=-10.00,9.65,-30.00

I started from the left 10m at 30 m forward to left rear. Then to right rear. Then to right front. This is backwards from our normal modeling of - being left and + being forward. as per this rule

"REMEMBER, positive z is out the TAIL of the ship"

So you want to start in the top left. Work your way down the left side. Then go back up the right side.

Another thing to do is to raise the reference points like so...

(Flight deck)
takeoff_start=0,18.900,-75
takeoff_stop=0,18.900,47.9
landing_start=0,500,-5000
landing_touch_down=0,18.900,-76.6
landing_stop=0,18.900,40.9

That way you'll start a little above the deck. The landing point aren't as important but you could put them half way betwen the wire height and the deck at 19.000. Your call.

If you want you can send me the Gmax source and I can lay down the deck for you. Its up to you.

'til later,
John

Stuart & John,

It seems to me that the take off start point is -75. That's 75mtrs aft of carrier model centre.

But there aren't any platform coordinates that are that far aft. The lowest figure I can see is -57.293.

So I think the aircraft is loading (spawning) at -75 & 18.888 altitude, & by the time it drops to find the platform, it appears the ship has sailed on without it?

Hope this helps.
