View Full Version : Italy in CFS 3

I have put a post up on the internal MAW forum with regard to bringing out an update to MAW this Fall of 2009. This update would finish off Italy and include a lot of the enhancements we have accomplished in ETO. This would be accomplished by bringing together a small group of active participants some from the original MAW team and some from ETO. As you know many of the old MAW team members are no longer active in CFS 3 at all.

If we cannot get enough support to bring out a Fall MAW update we will then go full steam on developing Italy in ETO for an update Sept of 2009. We have already made some improvements for Italy in our 1.2 update.

Best Regards

The overall plan would be the MAW update 9/2009, a minor Solomons update 9/2009 with a few new aircraft including a PBY that is in the works, new weather and effects.

An additional ETO update for Summer 2009 that will include more scenery for the coastal areas of England, France and Italy that will include Fishing Villages as well as new towns and villages placed in the terrain. The new PBY will also be included in the ETO update.

In the event that there is not sufficient interest to revive MAW then we will place added emphasis on Italy within ETO and make it a much larger update in the Fall.

In addition the TOW project is under way but I cannot speak for Ted and James on timing or whether it will be included as part of the next ETO update or be a separate addon built on ETO.

The Solomons ETO team and others will be supporting them in that project once they make their final decision on direction.

Lots of exciting things happening in CFS 3 for 2009.

The idea of updating MAW is wonderful and I'm sure it will receive a lot of adherents. The interest in MAW is enormous, I'm sure. Some threads in the past have shown it.
Please count me in for the development of this TO though technically limited my help may be.

Cheers

Thanks Guys, but the first thing we need is a consensus approval from the MAW team members that are left that they want an update done.

The only way we can do it is with approval. The MAW team structure is complicated with the original theatre development done by Ed Wilson who is now deceased. The team has pretty much disentegrated and it may be difficult to get enough of them together to voice an approval. There were some of us that were pretty late joining the team, Nigel and I were late to the team and not part of the original group that started MAW, but we are still both active in CFS 3.

Unless we can get enough of the original team to give their blessing we will not be able to do it. It would be easy to do the update as we currently do have the resources to get it done. All we need is a consensus of approval.

Keep your fingers crossed because if we don't do it now while we have the resources it will never happen. If the decision is not to do an update we will proceed with a more detailed ETO update in the Fall.

Thanks for your response and we will put both you and Nonato on the list as wanting to help.

Best Regards,

Steve

I have sent emails to those team members that I know no longer visit this forum and have received positive responses from several. Some have invalid email addresses and I have been unable to contact. Alx and Will Hunter bounced back.

These are the members I need to hear from that I have email addresses on, or visit this forum.

Most of them have dropped away completely since it was released.

For what it's worth, you're very welcome to do your update, as far as I'm concerned.

It would be worth doing the update just to include the FW's done by Mathias ( we hear they are pretty good like on a scale of 10 they are an 11) and the Baltimore by Steve. Steve has already given us permission on the Baltimore. Also Ted is working on a PBY.

Aranco,

That is a beautiful aircraft and we would be honored to include it. We will be adding aerial parachute flares to the MAW Swordfish, do you want them on this aircraft as well. Were they part of the armament on this type?

Steve

"Were they part of the armament on this type?"

I don't know, this is my first model and there is a lot to do before payload.
I need to search info about it.
Anyway thanks for the offer.
