Just wondering how far you California members are from this wreck ? Just got back to the house and turned the PC on and saw this : http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/02/24/us-usa-train-crash-idUSKBN0LS1MT20150224 I thought I knew where Oxnard was but I ended looking it up . There were several injured , some serious but no fatalities , right ? That's is a blessing for sure .

I don't think the train was traveling at 79 mph when it hit the truck, as the article said. The overturned cars came to rest barely 300 ft down the track. If they left the rails at 79 mph they'd be across the highway and into the weeds and somebody would be dead. RR grade crossings coming off a parallel road are always dangerous. Combination of stop lights and crossing gates can get people stuck on the tracks.

my local news said the crew had put the train into emergency breaking..which did in fact slow the train..but obviously not enough..

and to answer the original post..im about 450miles north...i heard nothing.....
