Curtiss Hawk campaign by Skylane released!

Hello Everybody!

I have a new campaign almost ready. It is about the Curtiss Hawk 75 (P-36) in service with the French air forces.
You will first fly with Fighter Group GC I/5 during the Battle of France, defending the area around Reims and later Paris against German Bombers and fighters.
After the armistice the Hawks continued to fly for the Vichy air force in North Africa, and you will now fight against British and later American airplanes. The Hawks flew during the British attacks at Mers-el-Kebir and Dakar, and also during Operation Torch.

A question: Does anybody know if there is a Vichy-French Skin for a Douglas DB-7 / A-20? It could be either for the Alpha plane, or the one from Tango Romeo, doesn´t matter. The French Skins for These planes that I have are all Free French, which doesn´t exactly fit...

If I find a Vichy Skin for it, I will Change the readme accordingly, otherwise I should be ready to upload the packsge by early next week.

This is outstanding! I do not know of a Vichy skin for the TR_Boston, but I do have something that might help. When Tango_Romeo did the series of A-20s, he used the R-2600 Cyclone engine data for the entire line. For the DB-7 models which fought in France during 1940, they were equipped with either 1,000 hp (746 kW) Pratt & Whitney R-1830-SC3-G radials, or 1,100 hp (820 kW) Pratt & Whitney R-1830-S3C4-G radial engines. I can't say with specificity if the French ever received any up-rated Bostons during the Battle of France.

These R-1830 Twin Wasps caused a significant reduction in performance from the R-2600 engined versions from 1941 onward. Here is a comparison...

Je les uploaderai bientot . Je vois que Rami a des dificultés avec mes" aircrafts " dans mes missions française Méditerranée 1940 . En fait ces avions ne sont pas indispensables , je les ai mis pour disons faire joli et meubler les bases aériennes et on peut les enlever . Pour les navires italiens bien sur il faut utiliser les derniers modèles de Stuart , ils sont parfaits . J'ai utilisé les bateaux espagnoles pour remplacer les bateaux français qui n'existaient pas , mais notre ami Stuart va nous arranger ça.
J'ai aussi quelques dizaines de missions France mai juin 1940 , mais elles demandent pas mal de travail pour les rendre utilisables par tout le monde . Si vous etes intéressé ?

Rami: I´m using the A-20/DB-7 as AI in a few missions, and as "eyecandy" at the airbases, so it wouldn´t make too much sense to do all the work to convert it to the lower horsepower. But thank you for the offer!

Kurt: Thank you for posting the plane! It Looks great! However, as I Need it for the Operation Torch missions, I guess I´ll wait for Dombral´s Skin to be uploaded.

Dombral: Sorry, I don´t understand French, really should learn some..
Did I understand correctly, that you are planning to upload your Skins? That would be grat, as they fit exactly for my missions!

Je ai créé une installation francophone spécifiquement pour les missions que vous me avez envoyés, y compris ces trente-quatre missions dont vous parlez, ainsi que les missions de l'opération Torch, Opération Menace, et l'opération Jugement.

Je essaie d'éliminer une partie de la sucrerie d'oeil, pas parce que je ne aime pas ça, mais il fera le téléchargement de ces missions beaucoup plus difficile si elles sont. Je vais poster mes progrès que je continue à travailler sur eux.

I have created a Francophone installation specifically for the missions you sent me, including those thirty-four missions you speak of, as well as the missions for Operation Torch, Operation Menace, and Operation Judgement.

I am trying to eliminate some of the eye candy, not because I don't like it, but it will make uploading these missions much more difficult if they are. I will post my progress as I continue to work on them.

Description: This set of two campaigns follows the operation of the Curtiss Hawk 75 by the French Air Force during World War Two.

The first campaign follows the fighter group GC I/5 through the “phony war” and the Battle of France in 1940 until the evacuation of the unit to North Africa shortly before the armistice. You will encounter all the German planes that were used in this conflict, like the He-111, Do-17 and Ju-87 bombers, and Bf-109D, Bf-109E and Bf-110 fighters as you first defend the area around Reims and later Paris.

The second campaign details the Hawk 75 operations by the Vichy French air force in North Africa from 1940 until November 1942. Now the British, formerly allies of the French are the enemy as you defend the French fleet at Mers el Kebir and later Dakar.

There are also several interceptions of British planes off the coast of Morocco. The campaign ends with the American invasion of Morocco during Operation Torch in November 1942.

Just kidding! This is an outstandingly researched campaign, and what's more...you're using an aircraft that otherwise would not be flown very much. This makes it even better. I truly hope all those who are interested in the ETO and MTO take the time to say thank you. Mission Builder can be a maddening process, and it's great to have a circle of folks (You, Devildog73, Captain Kurt, Dombral, Shadow Wolf 07, and a few others, including myself) who are still interested and dedicated to keeping the creative juices for missions and campaigns flowing for this sim.

I will find time during February vacation (if it is not lost to snow days) to install this campaign. Thank you, thank you! :triumphant:

BTW...There is an underground movement afoot that relates strongly to this project you have just released. But you have to know the secret knock to get in. :very_drunk:

Skylane - There is a problem with the FDG P-36 in terms of the AI behavior. (Altitude oscillations and an inability to keep pace) It boils down to FS9 elements in the .air and .cfg files. I sent out a flyer to Pen32Win, who helped me out with the B-17 and DCC P-38 series a while back. If I hear anything, I will let you know.

Thanks for the updated link to Reg´s Hangar, Rami! I changed the readme and attach it here. Can you pleas replace it in the library?

As for the P-36 airfile, I use the one that came with Captain Kurt´s Pearl Harbor missions. He allowed me to upload them with the campaign, so if you install the files provided, the Hawk will work just fine.
