Hey guys,

I have a buddy who is a late comer to FSX. Does anyone know where to source a copy from? I had no idea FSX had become rare!

Thanks!

Yeah, obviously that's the first place I looked but it's like $225 new for the Gold Edition (which I was hoping for) and not much less for the others.

I seem to recall some of the flight sim shops selling it for something less than the Hope Diamond price, but can't find any right now.

Was hoping that someone might know of a source that Google doesn't.

Try here:

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/productID.253658000?VID=255302800&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=45-16615781-2&WT.mc_id=US_datafeed_Google

It is only the Standard, but hopefully you can find Acceleration as well.

Update: found Accelleration:

Genius sir! I had actually looked at the Microsoft website, but I was looking at the time for the Gold version which is sold out. In the way of disclosure though, this guy was a Navy pilot that helped out with the Tomcat that just got released, so I need to make sure that the Tommy will work with the standard version and SP2 and not require Acceleration...vaguely recall Acceleration being required for some features.

Thanks Chief!

It's to be available on Steam too, although I haven't heard if DTG have got it out there yet. just checked – nope, not yet

MS store has Gold it's just out of stock - probably because of Christmas.

I'm suprised it's not on amazon right now as well... :(

Yeah, I was hoping Steam would have it as well.

Ryan, I'm surprised that MS is still making Gold (boy, was that an unintended pun...they sure seem to sometimes). I kind of figured that they would sell off all their old stock and not make more since they don't support it any longer.

Acceleration required for the carrier to be used. Makes sense.

So, it looks like he should be good to go with the Standard Edition and the Accel Expansion.

Thanks again all and Chief, once again demonstrating why the Navy would sink without you guys.

$225 new for the Gold Edition
HOW MUCH????
£38.75 at just Flight, but out of stock.

Yep, $225 was the highest price I saw for Gold.

Most of the other links, when you click on them, are either sold out, or "product out of stock", or divert you to a different page.

So, it looks like a lot of options from the shopping screen but, in actuality, none work...well, none below about $80 as I didn't click on them. ;)

Edit: I take it back....$235

Wow, had no idea this price gouging was going on.
Would be worth using some gasoline to visit your local computer stores, Walmarts, etc. or pick up the phone and call, wherever you think computer 'games' would be sold.
Saw one listed listed on Ebay for $249, or $42 for 6 months - rediculous.
If you can't find one at a reasonable price, consider P3D (I would in that situation if I could, but my current system can't run it, would cost me way more for a new computer).
Perhaps something cheaper will turn up after the holidays.

I live near two Fry's, and within the past week both stores had ample inventory of Gold (good deals on some Carenado and Just Flight products, too). I wonder why they won't ship the product from their warehouse?

No Chief, you are spot on. Those two work and I thank you.

I was just addressing the other links. Many seem to work, but then they are out of stock...and some don't exactly go out of their way to tell you! LOL.

I've recently had to rebuild my Win7 after a nasty bug attacked and trashed it and thought it would be a good idea to buy the Gold Edition rather than mess around with my Deluxe (add the SP's and SDK's then add FSXA and SDK's) and couldn't find a copy for love nor money.. out of stock everywhere!!
I ended up doing it the hard way with Deluxe/FSXA and having activated it.. then proceeded to mess around with the permissions on C: (I was trying to get some addon scenery to load without having to reinstall by using a saved scenery.cfg). Changing the permissions made no effect at all.. I was putting the scenery.cfg in the wrong place!!!:banghead:

So.. having installed Win7 again this morning to get the C: permissions back to normal.. I now have to install and activate FSX/ACC all over again but this time.. with phone activation:(

The moral of this story.. NEVER, EVER change the permissions on C: drive.

More reasonably, Gold is available at the FS Pilotshop here (http://www.fspilotshop.com/flight-simulator-fsx-gold-edition-p-1792.html) for $49.95.

See, that's what I was kidding about. It's listed for $49.95 but you can't add it to cart anywhere. First, I thought it was me, but I looked and looked and finally selected something else and saw where the ADD TO CART button should have been, but wasn't.

I must have tried at least 10 links like that at various places.

And every time, it was: "YAAAY...........Awww!" :playful:

The Flight Sim Store has them on sale for around $40 something
Aust. Dollars. Also if you have EB Games they usually have the
Gold edition pretty cheap. I bought a spare the other week and
it cost $24,including postage.

The Steam Edition of FSX Gold will be here next thursday, the 18th. Dovetail said "at a spectacular introductory price", so it might be worth the wait...Don
