Being new boy round here I'm not sure this video hasn't been seen a million times already. I have only just happened upon it during my search for pictures of my current paint.

Anyway, here it is.

The one I'm doing is C-GTZV.

P.S. Loved the 'missing man' formation. Brings a lump to the throat.

I was on the dev team early on, and did a LOT of research.
If there are any images in particular you are looking for, I may have them.

Give me a shout, Ron.

Some very nice schemes there. I've never been much of a Navion fan, but those paint schemes -esp. the polished metal ones - show the aircraft off well. Where was that filmed, BTW? Kelowna? I know that it's something of a hub for sport aviation in BC...

Penticton rings a bell with me. Although I've seen so many pictures I could be wrong.

@ Oleboy. Thanks mate I'll remember that. But I have to say, that making the searches and finally finding what I'm looking for is part of the fun. That 'gothca!' moment is great. :biggrin-new:

Yeah, I think it is Penticton, Ron, which is at the south end of Lake Okanagan while Kelowna's towards the north end. I remember seeing an aviation program (I think it was "Flightline" on the Discovery Channel) some years back that featured a group of guys who flew Yak-52's and Nanchang CJ6's out of the Penticton-Kelowna area in the same kind of for-fun aerobatics grpup as those Navions...

Definitely looks like the Okanagan area, and the lake looks too small to be Okanagan Lake - looks more like Skaha Lake, then my guess is Penticton as well.

Their home base is the Langley airport, just a few minutes from where I live ...

Very smart performances (have seen them at a few local air shows) and well done video. Though at around the 3.40 mark, when the camera zooms in, I instrinctively winced and recoiled - almost gave the impression of a near mid-air "contact".

Thanks for posting!

You are correct about Penticton. At about the 0:45 part of the video you'll see a painting of the compass that matches the Google Earth compass on the taxiway of runway 34 at Penticton airport.

Penticton is nice but I prefer Kelowna seeing I grew up there many many moons ago...wish I could go back.

From a visiting perspective, I've always enjoyed Penticton far more than Kelowna. But then, I enjoy many of the smaller towns around that area even more!

Hey - the dude abides!!! Man, it's been a long time ... seems like just yesterday we were beta testing your lovely CT-114 for that new FS platform called FS9 ... nice to see you again!

I was taking the Navion for a test flight and, to be frank, made a complete and utter pig's ear of my landing. I've been FSing for quite a while and I've never seen this before:

My landing WAS heavy and I DID hit with the starboard wheel first so I got what I deserved. The question is; Did LDR program this damage, if so, good job! Or is it inbuilt in FSX. Yes I do have damage ON in FSX.

Either way, it's pretty cool. :biggrin-new:

We did include damage modelling on the gear but the effect shown above is all down to the way the FSX engine displays the resulting damage. The damage value used resides in column 5 of the [Contact Points] section of the Aircraft.cfg file. You must have had a descent rate in excess of 1800 FPM in order to break the gear like that! :dizzy:

Just for reference, if you had been in spot view for the landing you would have seen sparks coming from the tail skid too and the contact points are also configured for belly landings.

I think you got a whole side of bacon not just the ear!

BTW I don't know if that paint is finished yet but it looks like you missed the cowl flap doors as they are still white. Or did the spray can run dry?

Fabulous confluence of this topic and real world events.

Kids were sick today, so I went alone to Rememberance Day ceremony. Gorgeous day (albeit cold) - so I rode my motorcycle. These fields reminded me of redder, darker fields a century ago..

.... Yes! These very same Fraser Blues we're talking about.

What an honour.
