Hi
Installed today this ASUS Strix GTX 970. Need to update BIOS on my Sabertooth X79, scared the hell of me when my system did not recognized the new hardware...

Now with Nvidia latest drivers 344.48, I'm quite happy.

Sliders all maxed to right, getting in FSX between 30 and 60 FPS (tried Madrid area with Orbx Global) and a steady 60 over Portugal with Mega Earth scenery . P3D between 35 and 60 Lisbon area both with a target of 60 FPS. Obviously FPS vary with scenery complexity

This thing rocks

How much did that video card cost ? I'm interested in buying a 9xx card to replace my old GTX480, but I fear the 980 will be way to expensive for me, so I'm looking at the 970.
In P3D, what do you get when you set the FPS limit to "unlimited" ?
With my current configuration, P3D behaves quite well with unlimited FPS, I don't get the instable scrolling or artifacts I had in FSX with that setting.

Seeing I've been out today collecting parts for my current 'new build' these prices caught my attention.

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX980 G1 Gaming, 4GB A$839.00. Probably the best bang for your buck!
GIGABYTE Geforce GTX980, 4GB A$779.00
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX970 G1 Gaming, 4GB A$525.00

ASUS ROG Ares III Limited Edition Dual R9 290X, 8GB A$2599.00. Outstanding performance at a cost, the one I'm considering as a standalone instead of another SLI setup.
ASUS GeForce GTX Titan Z, 12GB A$1999.00 (On Special:Until 01st Nov 14 Or While stock lasts) Considering the original $3899.00 price this is great deal but why the huge discount????
ASUS Strix Geforce GTX980, 4GB A$869.00

(Australian Dollars aka the Pacific Peso BTW.)

:encouragement:

I got very scared until I read "Australian Dollars" :dizzy:
So the 970 is around 360 euros then... Hmm that sounds like my next Christmas gift :D

About 300€ here. Still too much.

Might just wait a bit till all the used GTX770 hit the market.
But then again, that'd be only two generations better than my GTX570 which I still can overclock...

A GTX570 is not bad indeed, espciallly if you overclock it. But without overclock, the performance is just a bit higher than my GTX480, which is clearly showing its limits with P3D.

For info, this is a basic comparison between the 570 and the 970:

One of the biggest problems of my GTX480 is the heatfan, it's incredibly noisy when it raises its speed. The two big fans on the GTX970 look like the card will be much more silent....

Paid 357 €. Cheaper than the 780. Here in Portugal we pay 23% VAT. We get mugged everyday.

Daube...unlimited in P3D Lisbon area, Global, everything maxed, got 26-65 FPS with Fairchild 24R. (with great oscilations)

In Finland cheapest prices of 970 are a little less than 400€ (a bit less than $500) and we pay 25% VAT.
