Doing a little touch-up on some files before this thing goes to have its OS changed on Monday.

I've loaded a CalClassics CV-580 along with its panel for flight in FSSW60. When loading the aircraft I get a dialog box saying a gauge - CV580_RLC_VSI.gau - will not be loaded by the sim although the rest of the aircraft and panel is loaded fine. Once the panel is displayed the VSI is present but there is no needle in the gauge. In checking the main Gauge folder for FSSW60 I find the VSI gauge is not in that folder. I checked FS9 and found the gauge IS located there, so copied and moved it over to the Gauge folder in FSSW60. After starting the aircraft up again, I find FSSW60 rejects the installation of the VSI gauge from FS9. I also note the descriptive lettering for the .gau file in FS9 is in black, that for FSSW60 is in blue. Is there a reason for the incompatibility of the .gau file between the two sims?

You might have better luck over on the CalClassic boards.

I doubt it. I don't even know what FSSW60 is...

Sorry,

Sorry,

Perhaps Flight Sim Golden Wings 1960?

At least, that's what my trusty PF Flyer Secret Decoder/Magnifier/Whistle ring deciphered it as saying...

:biggrin-new:

The blue colored text in the File Name indicates that that particular File has not been opened or modified for a while (I think).

I've got blue Filenames in My Documents folder; I haven't looked at those for quite a while.

Files or folders in blue text have been compressed by Windows to save disk space. This can also be done (or undone) manually by right-clicking the folder/file, choosing Properties, and clicking the advanced button under the General tab.

That was a good suggestion about posting this over at the CalClassic boards and I've done so.

FSSW refers to Flight Simulator Silver Wings, an add-on to the basic FS9 setup.

Tom I checked that VSI file in FS9, it's not zipped according to the properties tab. I saw that earlier and was wondering if it were zipped would it have any effect.

Windows compression is not the same as being zipped. It's pretty much invisible as far as functionality, but it does slow access to the files just a bit, and it increases processor overhead. I found this article that might help:

Sorry,
Don't feel bad Tom. They love their lazy acronyms over here.

In my forum I suggested the OP download the latest 580 Base Pack. That gauge is no longer used in the latest version.
