Unfortunately, when you hang back, you run the risk of something happening to you on those last laps. Either another wreck, maybe you, or someone pulls out of line and screws up your run. It's a calculated risk, it does not always work, especially when there are rookies in that pack that you are trying to pass.

OMG...nothing more than excuses for a bad race yet again.....he is a race car driver,he should be at 100% for the win at all times, yes the thought of yet another concussion is worrying..but it shouldnt be..if he is afraid of further injury..its time to hang up the helmet and become an owner.he lost his mojo back when he had the fiery crash in the corvette and burnt his neck...he hasnt run the way he should from that time to now.

the reason Mark Martin never won a championship was because he wouldnt run hard at plate tracks..and ran 90% of the races conservatively,Jr goes into this much more..he wont ever win a championship either (as ive said he wont for years).
