A couple years back Bernhard Lechner did a repaint ( douglas_c-47_the_thing_update.zip (http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=copyright&fid=161937) ) for Manfred Jahn's C-47 for FS9 that recreated the paint scheme of the C-47 in the classic 1950's sci-fi/horror film, "The Thing From Another World". It's an attractive NMF scheme with some bright yellow and orange areas, as well as some attractive nose art, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the current release of Manfred's masterpiece.

Create a texture folder: 'texture.Tropical Tilly' in the 'Douglas_C-47_V2' aircraft folder.

Next copy files (C47_1T.dds and C47_2T.dds) from the folder you downloaded... 'douglas_c-47_the_thing_update/only for FSX' into 'texture.Tropical Tilly' folder.

Also needed are three files 'propdisk.dds', 'texture.cfg', and 'VC_seat.dds' from one of the other aircraft texture folders and copy those to the 'texture.Tropical Tilly' folder.

Open Douglas_C-47_V2 aircraft.cfg file and copy below the info after the last [fltsim.x] and change x to the next sequence number.

[fltsim.x]
title=Douglas C-47 Tropical Tilly
sim=Douglas_DC3_v1.2
model=C47_2
panel=
sound=TW
texture=Tropical Tilly
kb_checklists=Douglas_DC3_check
kb_reference=Douglas_DC3_ref

atc_airline=Air Force

Thing I love about Arctic/Antarctic USAF/USN livery/schemes was the contrast with the officialdom and stenciling then course the mission and sortie comes next :encouragement:
