I have just uploaded (to the SOH library) the following four repaints for the Wozza Carter AT-6G Texan. This time, all four are from the 1950's - three are from the 6147th Tactical Air Control Group and one is from the California Air National Guard.

Bomber, great screen shots!

I know I have asked this question before but would you be so kind as to talk a little about your graphic card settings and screen shot methodology.

I just installed a EVGA 780 Classified but my graphics do not look as clean and sharp as your's. I guess it's a matter of settings but I've yet to find that sweet spot. Any help will be appreciated.

I have most of the repaints for the T-6. I downloaded the new repaint for TA-163.
Two textures are included, Texture.TA-163 and Texture Master A.
Does the Master A texture need to be installed if you already have FSDS_T-6 and all the updates? Or is the Texture Master A an update that covers all the past repaints?

Superb....as always! I look forward to adding these to my virtual T-6 collection. In the 90s I used to do a lot of flying in a Harvard Mk.IV that was painted in 6147th colours as 'Night Train'. Least the 'Scream N Rebel' scheme is very close to the mark and thus will bring back a lot of good memories.

Can't thank you enough for all of your hard work. Made one T-6 man, very very happy! :)

Best wishes,

Martin

Thank you all! I appreciate you taking the time to comment on them. My only hope is that the subject matter is interesting enough that they'll get used.

The "Texture.Master A" folder, which I decided to include with each repaint (in-case you only wanted one in particular), is intended to be placed within the FSDS_T-6, just like the repaint texture folders. Each of my latest repaint's Texture.CFG file is written to tie into this. What the "Texture.Master" folder does, is places all of the texture files which were modified or made by me, which each repaint shares, into one folder, thus saving space on your hard-drive (and not over-stepping the original paint schemes or other author's repaints). Otherwise, without it, it would be like my early repaints, with some 46 texture files in each repaint folder. (Those who installed my four other recent packs of AT-6 repaints (8th Air Force, Luke Field, Factory Fresh, and BFTS) will have three different "Texture.Master" folders (A, B, C), based on the differences in these textures per the repaints that tie into them.) If, for instance, you already have a "Texture.Master A" folder from another repaint, you don't need to worry about adding it again from another repaint that has it with the same letter.

However, the "Texture.Master A" folder contained with these four latest repaints, does have some new glass textures, so you can pull those out and use them on other repaints if you want, place them in my other "Texture.Master" folders, etc.

John, I've seen photos of that real aircraft (restored/flying today - non-historical/fictitious scheme) and liked it too, so I'll try and remember to do that one.

Here are a couple more repaints, which started by working on John's (Skyhawk's) request. The requested paint scheme is one which the French-based Texan F-AZRB was painted in for a number of years prior to 2009. While this paint scheme was not authentic/historically correct, I always rather liked it too.

The real aircraft has a rather interesting history. It was originally manufactured in 1943 as an AT-6D for the USAAF as 42-86174. In 1945 it was transferred to the Navy as an SNJ-5 with the BuNo. 90747. In 1961 it was sold surplus to the Spanish Air Force and participated in the Conflict of the Sahara in 1972, fitted with machine guns and rocket launchers. As of 1982, when the aircraft was retired from the Spanish AF, it had 7,942 hours of flight time clocked during its career up until that point. The aircraft would spend time at the Museo del Aire until being sold onto the French register in 1994.

A few years ago the aircraft underwent a cosmetic restoration and thorough inspection, which included a new paint scheme resembling what the aircraft looked like when stationed at Pensacola NAS in the 1950's.

First off, here are some screenshots showing the paint scheme from pre-2009. I kept all of the inaccurate aspects of this paint scheme just as it was, including the star being positioned on the wrong side of the bottom of the wings.

And here is the second repaint for this aircraft, as it appears today following the restoration work and repaint. The aircraft is painted to closely resemble the way it looked when stationed at Pensacola NAS in the 1950's.

First wanted to pipe and say a huge THANKS to John for the new textures - they really bring this model back to life in a dramatic way. Just outstanding.

The other was to ask which of the textures defines the spinner colour? I was hoping to personalize my F-AZRB with a chrome spinner from one of the polished metal paints - not sure which it is ... or if it's tied to a texture sheet containing other textures.

thanks!

Hey DL,

The spinner texture is contained on the Texan2_t texture sheet, in the form of a big rectangle and a small rectangle located at the top of the sheet. This is the same texture sheet that also contains the forward windscreen textures (and several other parts) as well, so changing it with another repaint won't work out very well.

As it is such an easy modification to the existing textures, I went ahead and chromed the prop for you for F-AZRB (assuming it is the current scheme that you were talking about).

Attached to this post are the modified textures for you (and anyone else who would be interested) to use - just swap them in. ; )

I particularly liked this one because of what has been painted on the canopy rail...

Wouldn't be a problem, Deacon!

"Double Vee"

Here's another repaint that I've put together for the Wozza Texan. The repaint is meant to depict the restored AT-6C/AT-6G 42-48884 which was based at Tuskegee, Alabama throughout WWII. It is one of only two surviving Texans known to have this connection to the Tuskegee Airmen, and is the only one flying. Today it is owned/flown by Lewis Air Legends and based in Texas: http://www.lewisairlegends.com/aircraft/t-6g

Although not named, the aircraft has been called "Double Vee", a term which describes the Tuskegee Airmen's double victory over the Axis powers in Europe and over discrimination back home. I'll try to have the repaint completed/uploaded either late tonight or early tomorrow.
