What does the number in this line effect, OuterDistance="8001"?

How do you make objects on the ground appear from a greater distance, without adjusting the aircraft xpd pilots view?

I think that's to do with the ai, the only way to affect the distance when objects show is through the LOD in the source models, and then the smallest LOD range is pre-set/coded (I think!)

Clive good morning! I may have a few rocks in my head, but it seems that the ground objects (planes, hangars, etc.) on some air bases, do not appear until you are right on top of them. The reason I thought this was adjustable, is because there seems to be variation from island to island. I will go fly a couple quick missions to varify my felonious notions. I thought possibly there was some adjustment in the facility or object files.

Here is an example, notice in the first picture you see palm trees quite visible from a considerable distance. The next 2 screen shots, I am practically on top of the island, and you can see the ground objects just starting to appear. With such a huge difference, this must be adjustable somehow.

Outer distance is used by spawns in missions. Look at mission_target_facility_?.xml in the facility folder.

If you use mission_target_facility_6k.xml, player will have to be very close for the spawn to be run and if you use mission_target_facility_15k.xml, spawn dice roll will be run even if player is rather far away from facility.

If it's models then the LOD value affects when it becomes visible and that's in the source. Also, the higher your slider settings, the detail will show sooner (I think) and there may also be other values to play with in your config file.

Not helping much are we? lol :)

Clive I thought it was a simple adjustment of a value in the .xml or object xpds. Unfortunately with this game the answer to a problem is not always as simple as I want it to be.
