In the next few weeks I'll start posting my repaints of both Korean War aircraft and WW I. They are the ones that I currently have at Sim-V and were at LW's site. With the loss of his site I have a bunch coming over.

Thank You. Glad to get back into it.

I'm working on updating my comp right now. It should be finished by tomorrow. I did a system restore and it only goes to XP SP2. so i'm having some issues. Trying to get SP3 and update from there is proving a challenge.

I think it might be time for a new computer. time will tell.

Till Later,
John

I would keep it with SP2 but some of the programs i'm running require SP3. At any rate I have finished with most of it. now i have to do all of my programs then get CFS2 off of the recovery drive.

Description: Repaint- Albatros DV Sachsenberg Skin for Aerocrate's Albatros DV
By John P Fortin (Blood_Hawk23)
The repaint is of Gotthard Sachsenberg Albatros D V of mid 1917.

On 1 February 1917, Sachsenberg succeeded Oberleutnant von Santen as commanding officer of Marine Field Jasta I. MFJ II was organized somewhat later, and the two were combined into a larger unit, Marine Jagdgruppe Flanders. Leutnant de See Sachsenberg was appointed its commanding officer. His friend and rival ace Theo Osterkamp became commander of MFJ II.

MFJ III was later raised and added to the larger unit. Still later, two more MFJs were raised and added to the parent unit, bringing its strength up to about 50 fighter planes, comparable to an army Jagdgeschwader. Stationed on North Sea coastal airfields, the MFJ units often fought against Royal Naval Air Service aircraft who were stationed in similar circumstances.
Sachsenberg opened his score as a fighter pilot, downing a Farman and a Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter on 1 May 1917. He scored again on the 12th, claiming a Sopwith Pup into the sea, and then notching a double victory on 7 June to make him an ace.
On 20 August, Sachsenberg was awarded the Knights Cross of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern. By the end of 1917, his victory roll stood at eight.

He claimed his ninth victory on 17 March 1918, and continued to score steadily until 29 October 1918, when he downed his 31st confirmed. Midway through this run, Sachsenberg was awarded Prussia's and Germany's highest decoration, the Pour le Mérite, on 5 August 1918. He end the war with 31 victories.

Description: Repaint- Belgian Sopwith Camel Skin for Aerocrate's Sopwith Camel
By John P Fortin (Blood_Hawk23)

The repaint is of a Belgian Sopwith Camel F.1 of Jan Olieslagers of the 9th Escadrille de Chasse. In his first aerial combat, Olieslagers attacked an enemy aircraft armed only with a pistol. Throughout the war, he seldom bothered to claim the enemy aircraft he destroyed. Despite a modest score of six confirmed victories, Olieslagers flew 491 sorties and engaged in 97 dogfights.

I was not able to do the white and red triangles on the cowl due to limitations in the texture.

Enjoy

Description: Repaint- Albatros DV Udet Skin for Aerocrate's Albatros DV
By John P Fortin (Blood_hawk23)

The repaint is of Ernst Udet's Albatros D V of his Jasta 37 bird in September of 1917. This maybe the plane in which he had his duel with Georges Guynemer.

---Guynemer scored another double victory on June 5, but during that period of intense combat, an incident occurred that somewhat contradicted his relentlessly deadly image. In his book, Mein Fliegerleben, Ernst Udet described his dogfight with a lone Spad near Lierval:

"Sometimes we pass so closely I can clearly recognize a narrow, pale face under the leather helmet," Udet wrote. "On the fuselage, between the wings, there is a word in black letters. As he passes me for the fifth time, so close that his propwash shakes me back and forth, I can make it out: 'Vieux' it says there — vieux — the old one. That's Guynemer's sign. Yes, only one man flies like this on our front, Guynemer, one who had brought down thirty Germans. Guynemer, who always hunts alone, like all dangerous predators, who swoops out of the sun, downs his opponents in seconds, and disappears….I know it will be a fight where life and death hang in the balance."

Udet, though a consummate flier in his own right, was unable to outmaneuver Guynemer. "I try anything I can, tightest banks, turns, side slips, but with lightning speed he anticipates all my moves and reacts at once," he wrote. "Slowly I realize his superiority. His aircraft is better, he can do more than I, but I continue to fight. Another curve. For a moment he comes into my sights. I push the button on the stick…the machine gun remains silent…stoppage!"

For what Udet described as the longest eight minutes of his life, he struggled on while trying to clear his jammed weapons. At one point he was pounding on the receiver with both fists when the Spad flew over his Albatros. "Then it happens," Udet wrote. "He sticks out his hand and waves to me, waves lightly, and dives to the west in the direction of his lines."

Udet remained convinced ever since that Guynemer, seeing his plight, had spared him in an act of knightly chivalry. With the benefit of hindsight, however, a later, less idealistic breed of fighter pilot might have thought the French ace's noble compassion somewhat misplaced, given the total of 62 Allied planes credited to Udet by the end of the war.---

Description: Repaint- Mig-15bis Ivanov skin for KWCFS2_MIG15_S
By John P Fortin (Blood_Hawk23)

Repaint for the KWCFS2_MIG15_S. This is a repaint of MiG-15bis Fagot '502' flown by Nikolai Ivanov as it looked on August 1 1952.

Nikolai Ivanov was one of many Russian WW2 veterans who also fought in Korea. He was actually an "Ace of Two Wars," because in 1944-45 he shot down 6 German planes (4 FW-190s and 2 He-111s).

When his unit -the 726th IAP, 133rd IAD- arrived to Korea in June 1952, it was a hard time for the Soviet pilots in Korea. The experienced "Honchos" who fought so well during 1951 had been replaced by rookies of the 97th and 190th IAD, and they were being beaten up by the well-trained American pilots.

Description: Repaint- Mig-15bis Kramarenko skin for KWCFS2_MIG15_S
By John P Fortin (Blood_Hawk23)

Repaint for the KWCFS2_MIG15_S. This is a repaint of MiG-15 #686 flown by Capt. Kramarenko.

On October 30 he blasted an F-84E, #51-615, of the 49th FBW out of the sky, and was also involved in the major ambush that the 176th GIAP prepared against the Australian Meteors of No. 77 Sqdn on December 1 1951. During the ensuing battle the Russian MiG-15 Fagots slaughtered the RAAF formation claiming 10 Meteors (two of them were credited to Kramarenko). Actually only three Meteors were shot down and a fourth one was damaged; Kramarenko 1st claim was, most likely, the Meteor of Vance Drummond (POW).

Is that an Albatros DIII. I dont see the top radiator so i can't tell. DIII is in the middle DV and DVA are to the right. Oh nevermind it doesn't have the V Strut so its a DIII.

Looks great to me Talon.

I love these old planes.
