I need some coaching on a couple of A/C. I keep getting an initialization on MC_202_84 and Hurricane_ MKIIb_Trop. I think I fixed the Hurricane because I left out the MK in the name. What might I be missing in the MC_202_84?

I do this so infrequently that I forget what needs to match in the A/C file and the missions file.

Thanks in advance.

Highpockets,

I checked the MC_202_84 folder, and it has two texture folders, but I made sure to include that with my revised aircraft.cfg file. You may want to make sure the "title" line in the aircraft.cfg file is named MC_202_84 so that it matches with the outside folder, and/or just choosing one folder and changing the aircraft.cfg file.

Have you tried checking the aircraft in free flight to make sure the aircraft is working?

Not yet checked Free Flight but will try this evening and let you know.

I reinstalled the MC_202_84 and it seems to be OK now. However< I am experiencing CTD on several of the Quatro missions and I have to assume it has sometning to do with the A/C as they all use the SU_BF109F_2 &_4. I will continue to work to see what I have done ( or not done). I did not see any reference in your installs to the Beaufighter MK1c

Highpockets,

You're right, the Beaufighter slipped through the wickets. Surprised that wasn't caught during beta testing.

Here you go: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=50&id=6860

Keep me posted on the others...did you check the aircrafts in free flight?

They all fly in free flight so far. Will keep you posted. They all worked, as I remember in the old DAF. I am having issues in the Malta missions as well. I will keep on it.
Thanks for your work on these missions. I don't know how you guys do it. It would take me a week probably to just do one! :applause:

Such as??? :kilroy:

Just so you know, I'm happy you're asking these questions. If there are problems, I need to know about them, so I can help correct them if need be.

Highpockets,

You're two for two: http://simviation.com/lair/files/shipyard1/merchantmen41.zip

You'd think someone else would have spoken up by now. Was this for Western Desert or Malta?

On third of the way up from the bottom of the page, get "merchantmen41.zip. http://simviation.com//lair/cfs2shipyard.htm :salute:

I think it was covered when I downloaded for 1 merchantman for "Pedestal" I already had the ship.

It was for the Western Desert Missions with the Beaufighter MK1C.

I tested some of the Brit missions and they worked OK. Still having difficulty with missions involving the MC_202-84 in the Italian missions and the SU_BF-109 in the German missions. Earlier most of my Free Flights were not working again. I checked my number of A/C and it was below 100--90-91,I think.
??
As Scarlet said, I will worry about that tomorrow.

Two of the Quarta Sponda Missions, #11--"Brisk East winds afoot", and # 12, "Routine Patrol for Jabos" are giving me a improper or corrupt mission file. On the breifing screen it shows Macchi MC_202_84 as the player A/C in both. All the other missions run fine and they show a MC202-Folgore 84 Squadriglia as the player A/C. Is that a clue for you?? I looked in the mission files and could not figure out what is happening. :isadizzy:
Thanks

Highpockets,

With that info, I spotted the problem IMMEDIATELY. It was nothing you did, it was a naming error on my part. Sorry about the undue stress, my friend!

I'll update the mission package tonight, and PLEASE continue to post about problems / issues!

Thanks Rami!
No stress really.
Being an engineer, I have a tendency to want to figure out what is going on even though I don't necessarily understand completely the system. I want to take things apart to see if I can find the problem. :jump:

Will keep you posted if I find more. :salute:

Rami,

In your Western Desert instructions for the Skyunlimited BF-109f your note says name the first folder SU_BF109F_4, then copy these contents into a new folder, naming it SU_BF109F_2.

Should the folder name be SU_BF109F_4? It works that way on a couple of missions that I have loaded, but continue to get A/C failure to initalize or CDT on the SU_BF109F_2. It comes up on the briefing screen as SU_BF_109F_2 rather than SU_BF109F_2 as my A/C folder is named..

Highpockets,

Right again! :medals: :icon29: :medals: (You must have been an engineer in your working days, your attention to detail is stellar!)

You caught a crucial typo in the readme. Here it is, corrected...

Note: I have created two separate sets of .cfg, .air, and .dp files for this aircraft. What you will want to do is copy the contents of the original aircraft into two folders; name the first folder SU_BF_109F_4, then copy these contents into a new folder, naming it SU_BF_109F_2, and use my files to overwrite/replace the originals for both. Then you can use a skin from Morton’s skin pack to differentiate one from the other.

The reason for this is that early models of the Bf-109f were equipped with a 1,175hp engine, the same as in the “Emil,” and consequently the performance increase was modest. It was not until March of 1942 that the F-4 model with its 1,300hp DB-601E engine appeared. With that engine, the Bf-109 gained a significant boost in performance, which has been reflected in the airfile.

I'll upload the package again tonight to SOH and my site.

Keep 'em coming, my friend! Let's get this right!

Rami,

After reloading the Sky Unlimited BF109 according to the instructions, I continue to get "Aircraft failed to initialize" on both the SU_BF109_2 and _4. on all the German Missions.

The briefing screen shows the player A/C name with an underscore between the BF and 109 ( ex.SU_BF_109_2) on both and my A/C folder has the name SU_BF109_2 and _4 as instructed.

What am I missing here?

I also having initialization issues with the BSK_Spitfire_MK_VB in all the Malta and Lybia Missions.

Highpockets,

Do the aircraft show up in free flight?

Rami,

Sorry, you asked me that before. The BSK_Spitfire_MK_VB, SU_BF_109_2 and another A/C, BF-109-G2 trop that I cannot get to load in missions is not in the Free Flight list at all. The SU_BF109_4 shows up, but will not intialize.

I feel like I have been down this road before, but cannot remember the solution. :kilroy:

Highpockets,

Then that tells me that there is something wrong with the aircraft themselves. You'll want to investigate why this is happening. Make sure that the aircraft.cfg files are correct, as well as the sim name in the aircraft.cfg file.

Also, check to make sure that the aircraft's panels are there, and that the sound.cfg is aliased to an aircraft you already have, or that you add sounds. If the aircraft don't show up in free flight, you need to investigate why first. Otherwise, trying to fly a mission without fixing the aircraft is putting the proverbial cart before the horse!

If you get deadlocked, zip up the aircraft folders and send 'em to ramisoh "at" aol "dot" com. I'll untangle the spiderweb for you.

Panels and sound are there. What should all match in names: Folder, Air.cfg & sim name?

Did you check to make sure that the sound.cfg is aliased correctly to an aircraft that you already have?

And to the second part of your question, yes.

Got BSK Spit to work in Malta missions but "the escort stringbag" CTD after a while.
Where is the BF-109G-2 trop B-6?
Still struggling with the Skyunlimited BF 109s'
some of those missions don't recognize the BSK ??
