Col Anderson called this afternoon and said he was running up to the post office and wanted to drop by to sign the wing of my diecast of his P-51B,i figured he would come to the front door of the main house,so i went over there,i happened to look outside and saw him walk past the hedge as he headed to my rv outback,my mom went flyin out the door to catch him before he got all the way out...got a laugh out of that.we started talkin about flight simulator and he told me that EA had him go to C-3 years ago and take on people there over a network, then wanted him to test fly theyre new flight sim (game).he told them he didnt own a PC and the next morning he went to get his morning newspaper and a brand new pC was on his porch.he then felt obligated...lol.

i have to add, what was really cool,he and his wife both being born here in my area, our families,as it turns out have alot of mutual friends.my mom asked about his wife, who he doesnt talk muc about do to her health, and he really opened up,he seemed very relaxed and calm,he began to talk about where he used to live, which was just around the corner from the small hospital i was born in,which was unique as its on the rim of a deep canyon,he began describing the house, and how the old stables had been converted into a duplex, i looked at my dad and said, isnt he talking about Mr *&^%^%$ house?.....Buds mouth dropped open and he said..he was my father inlaw..how did you know him?...i then told him id worked in the main house and the duplexes from about age 12 as a plumber,,knew the homes very well, but i had NO clue they were related...lol,then he sat there on the couch in silence..lost in thought for a few minutes....looked at my dad and asked...was your fathers name "James"..or jim?..mother Audrey?.....was another of those OMG moments......shortly after,my sisters ex mother inlaw, who lives across the street from us,and is still a part of our family..comes in the house, shes 89 years old,,shes a native of Newcastle california,,as is Bud....they stood there a minute looking at eachother and refina says....hey yer that guy from that ranch on the end of (such and such rd) yet another OMG moment..then refina asks....have you spoken to Joe lately?...he asked joe who.."Joe Bailon"..just a note,,id asked Bud before..did you know Joe Bailon? he said..no..so refina says..yes you do...he lived next door to me and you and joe and ( a name i dont know) used to...and then she told a story from thier childhood.....Buds reaction was....oh god...i thought everyone involved in that was dead...lol.

incase yer not familiar...Joe Bailon is the car customiser you created candy apple red paint.he grew up with refina, and when he came back to auburn they became close again...he is stricken with alzheimer's now....sad.

Very,very cool.

Of course, you do realise that having him there you missed out on the opportunity of getting him to sign up as a member of the SOH?

im working on him...we had a long detailed talk about flightsim,i told him about SOH,and about Bomber12's warbird sim and A2As civilian P-51,and today i sent the youtube video of A2As Cessna C-172 preflight deal...im not going to hound him,but he was very interrested in "online flight"...and combat...which surprised me...said he would like to take on some "kids" of today in a P-51...
