..to France My wife and I drove up to Normandy and drove the coast to visit all the landing sites. It was a dreary rainy day and near sunset we walked to the waterline at Omaha. It was then low tide and though being going into evening the lighting effect was the same as daybreak on that day. I was amazed at how FAR it is from the waterline to any safety of coastline beyond the beach. My wife is not a history buff but was overwhelmed with the feeling of that day. Believe me it is a looooooooooong run, in sand with a pack and I was amazed as many made it as did. I was in awe of the herculean effort it must have taken. I had relatives, and friends of family, who were there and when they did talk it was of the sheer terror of that day. I saw then why.
Sadly they are leaving us at the rate of over 600 a day. Soon the Longest Day will be forgotten for the likes of Justin Beavers' , and other spoiled pompous donkey behinds, birthdays.

I salute those brave warriors who assaulted Fortress Europe to win and preserve freedom for the world from fascism.
