Hi Badger and welcome to the Basement.

I don't think that you can download CFS 2 anywhere, but a search at Amazon should produce a hard DVD for purchase.

The difference between 1, 2, and 3 is technology as well as theater. CFS 1 was introduced as a European combat sim, CFS 2 was introduced as a Pacific theater sim and CFS 3 went back to Europe.

Of the three, I've always preferred CFS 2 for my combat simming and it has progressed by leaps and bounds over its original iteration. There are literally thousands of improvements for it (as well as 1 and 3) and it now can cover WWI through VN and flying on about all of the continents with pretty good authenticity.

The popularity of CFS2 is also because many scenery and aircraft elements are compatible with FS2002. CFS1 has some compatibility with FS98. CFS3 has no compatibility, but has many unique features that can be explored and developed.

You won't need to go anywhere near CFS1 unless you really want to as I think everything, including most missions, is now available for CFS2.:salute:
