Did they add LPV capability? If not, it is a waste of money for me...I have enough 'eye candy' to last me years....

....edit....just checked the product page. Still no updateable AIRAC, LPV/WAAS capability, etc...

Sorry, but this one is a 'pass'. looks really really nice on the outside though. Should make for some great screenshots. lol.

Matt just put a 530W popup in... That's what I did for their others... Then use RXP.ini to add link to G1000.

You can't expect F1 style g1000 from Carenado...

I can just look at those displays and tell you how my computer will like it.

Yes, Ryan. I did that with the Cirrus they put out a few months ago. I know I can, but why should I have to? They make great exterior models, with excellent-looking avionics that have *default* functionality? Just ranting. Don't mind me. I never expected anything more than what has been released anyway...but one can always hope to be surprised...

Whoever worked on flight handling, this is an amazing pattern flyer... no kidding. The Nav-drone stuff with long climbs cruises and decents on autpilot bore me personally, even if it's realistic, so I did some pattern work with it; it really shines there. If you like to hand fly, this is a great handling, VERY believable model; it wouldn't surprise if the TBM factory pilots helped with this, it's that thorough. Totally unexpected, pleasant surprise on my end, lol.

How is the turbo prop engine simulated

Barfly
May 16th, 2013, 15:19
It's pretty good... reasonable Prop lag when behind engine core spool up. Sounds are good..... but there is no actual reverse. I looked at the .cfg and there were some odd entries in there - I think the problem is in the airfile, will continue to investigate. I rechecked the Carenado King Air and PA-46 and their reverse is fine.

Edit:
disregard reverse problem... configuration issue on my end

I had to pick this one up since they added flight planning in the G1000. I am impressed by the frame rate. I am holding steady at between 28 and 30 fps (locked at 30). Unfortunately the large MFD is not very high resolution. That's probably one of the reasons the FPS is so good.

The torque/RPM relationship seems to be modeled fairly well. She climbs right by the numbers too. Only disappointment thus far is the sounds. But I guess that was to be expected when coming from such a superb turboprop simulation like the Q400...

Not sure what Barfly means by no actual reverse. I was able to back her up and turn her around without pushback.

Back to the flight!

Glad you posted that Kiwi... I think my reverse problem was due to loading the aircraft after another that had some custom throttle work.... it's all good now :)

Just curious, why aren't you using Anti-Aliasing? You have a GTX 570 according to your signature. It makes FS look a thousand times better, even at low settings. Those "jaggies" would drive me absolutely insane after 5 seconds. :kilroy:

Has anyone piggy-backed a realityXP gauge to drive the G1000 yet? I am waiting for feedback on how it works before pulling the trigger; I read a post over on Avsim forum that stated the user had an issue with the G/S not acquiring or locking on during a WAAS approach...Ryan?

Fps are good. The G1000 system textures are lower res than with the cirrus. The mfd looks very blocky and not crisp like their cirrus.

On my rig a normal carenado runs at 36 FPS.The TBM is at 27 to 35 FPS in and out

the Cirrus runs out a 36 and in 25 with MFD not on goes to 22-27 when you put it on

530W popup with linkgps=on gives me control over comm1 and nav1 from the RXP popup. It doesn't change the stndy freqs when you change them on the 530W though. Once you put the active freq in the 530 it will swap to the correct spot on the G1000.

If you enter a FP in the 530 it will display on the g1000 (but not amazingly beautiful as usual), and the current waypoint will display the name, distance, and bearing on the PFD G1000. ETE is correctly displayed on the G1000/MFD. The CDI on the G1000 slaves to the correct track for current waypoint on the 530.

On autopilot the 530 WAAS approach was flown well for the LNAV portion. Unfortunately you're right I don't see the LPV glide path markers on the PFD. Though I'm not sure I have them on the Cirrus either. Oddly enough, the autopilot with ARM selected, WILL fly the LPV portion guided by the 530 hehe... Not that it helps you because how do we navigate without guidance on the PFD?? (well I guess we can do LNAV minimums)

Here's a pic of what I see on the approach... gives you an idea of what the linkgps=on can do (and can't do!).

I think you'd want to pass since the glide path isn't showing. Maybe Bert can work some magic but I don't see any entry on the rxp.ini that would control this...
