View Full Version : I hate the default bland sandy desert textures!

They seem to appear unwanted just about everywhere.

Sorry, just had to vent. :angryfir:

PS; Don't know what MS was thinking with that particular texture??? I've been trying to isolate and replace it for some time now to no avail. Thought I had it yesterday, but alas, no luck.

Try Adam Mills freeware ground textures there at AVsim.com

Already tried them. Didn't hit the texture I'm frustrated with. It's that almost pasty white texture with hardly any vegetation detail. If someone knows which texture file to look for, I'd be able to re-name another more suitable file to replace it with. The texture mostly affects areas in the SW USA, but also rears it's ugly head elswhere.

The deserts appearances are due more to landclass vice textures...

Have you tried a new landclass in combination with a different texture set?

Hi Dave,

my FSX land class spreadsheet includes hotlinks for screenshots of each class/texture in the B region (most of the Americas and parts of the other continents): http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=231&t=57245

Once again, I defer to the master. Holger, thanks for your response! I'll do some research based on the link you provided.

To be honest, I always like all that desert!:gossip: But then again, I usually fly in desert areas anyways at Edward's!

Hi Holger:

Did you ever have a chance to see which one was causing all the sand and obliteration of terrain mesh associated ground shadows in the Grand Canyon? :help:
