That's most probably an option available via a clickspot, a bit like on the freeware Etendard IV.

I think its like the Mystere IV from Restauravia : there should be some clickable area on the windshield frame which makes the frame transparent in order to make formation flight easier. But you can fly formation without using this feature of course.

a very thoughtful feature... at first I thought it was an attempt to simulate the wider field of view given by two eyes vs one camera where things can sometimes seem a little translucent through combined perspective... either way, useful.

Hi,
You were right! when working on Fouga Zephyr and EtendardIVM, the feedback we had from our former (real-life) pilots was that the field of view was better in the real life : for instance pilots never loose the FLOLS 's meatball view. The reason is certainly mainly due to binocular effect vs single camera but also to the way brain works in a real 3D environment vs false 3D like FSX...
As a work around we decided to use transparency feature which according to our pilots, gives good results!!
But it is optionnal, you can keep everything solid!

Regards
Sylvain

Looking forward to this one very much. Not only because I like the old analog gauges but also due to the number of possible repaints. At the beginning of their service life, the IIIB's were delivered to the individual fighter squadrons, prior to being assigned to the then newly created training squadron ECT 02/002 "Côte d'Or" in 1966. At the start of the video the leader is from ECT 02/002 while the one we see the most is from EC 02/013 "Alpes". In addition to all the French fighter unit schemes it wore this will be a great canvas for the IIIBZ in SAAF colors and the IIIBJ in IAF colors.

It was close though, after evaluation flights it was the pilot´s choice. But, it was too expensive and the politics got involved. Our pilots finally got their will through with the F/A-18.

I don't think so. They didn't take off from Zara and the island isn't that wide (based on how far away the scenery mountain ranges appear). This must be some scenery of the Alps perhaps?

Sadly it isn't. A rework based on canard equipped versions was started but got sidetracked when he was hired by Aerosoft to do some work for them. That will be finished in a couple months so hopefully he will get back on the Mirage and other projects.

Restauravia have plans to make a IIIC and IIIE following the IIIB.

...

After looking at the image some more let me change my comment. The Restauravia version is the camouflaged bird. The three bare metal IIIB's are the AI model by Mike Pearson. I can tell by the ladder he used in the front position.

But no AB!!! :isadizzy: :icon30:

If you are talking about the effect of the AB then make sure the fuel pumps switches are on. (Item 3 on page 11). Look in the exhaust pipe at idle and then in AB. There is a lot of flame in there. Then look at the airspeed and fuel quantity gauges. The AB is working."

If you are talking about a visual effect then there is an issue. I asked Restauravia about this.

The response from one of the pilots...

"When it is the day, so we doesn't see the afterburner flame.
But when it is night, the flame is out of the rear and we can see the flame.
I do not know if André will made a correction, but the team is looking for a solution for the flamme by night."

The response from the modeler...

"We discussed this issue with MirageIII pilots: "On the MirageIII the flames of PC are not visible outside by day. By night against the PC spits out a 6 or 7 meters long blue light cone streaked with beautifull orange rings ionization ". Our model is correct by day, a little less at night !"
So there you have it. In the meantime perhaps try adopting the AB from the Skysim Mirage IIIE for night time.

Hows this for a AB flame plume added in?

871068710587104

It's easy to add and doesn't seem to interfere with the lights so far in quick testing. Will test further to make sure. If anyone's interested, I'll show how to add this. It is possible to layer two flame plumes to widen the effect out a bit retaining the overall effect visual seen here.

Thanks!

The tail flashing light, you know something?

:mixedsmi:

Sure, actually the tail (and wing position) lights are embedded in the MDL file and use these FX files:

Steady tail light = fx_MIIIB_FixeOrange.fx
Flashing orange tail light = fx_MIIIB_CliOrange.fx
Flashing white tail light = fx_MIIIB_CliBlanc.fx

So, if you want to use alternative light FX, I guess you can make a copy of another light FX, then rename it to the FX name used in the MDL file, for example:

rename a copy of fx_shockwave_strobe_sm.fx -> fx_MIIIB_CliBlanc.fx
replace the RESTAURAVIA fx_MIIIB_CliBlanc.fx with your new version.

Alternatively, you can open the MDL file with a hex editor and rename the FX names there.
