Awesome, Huub! This has been one that I have been most interested to have for that aircraft for some time. You've done a superb job, and I am really looking forward to it!

Mike, this would be for the A2A Bf 109E (FSX updated).

Okay, it took a bit longer than expected, but it is available in the library....

The last pilot who flew this Emil, which most likely carried the marking "yellow 10" was Eduard Hemmerling from 6./JG51. On 29 July 1940 he crash landed at the beach near Cap Blanc Nez near Calais. A few days kater he died from his severe injuries.
What was left of the aircraft was secured in 1988. In 1994 a start was made to restore this aircraft, the aircraft was sold to the collector David Price, who sold the aircraft to the "Alpine Deer Group - Wanaka ( New Zealand).
In May 1999 the aircraft was sold the Flying Heritage Collection in Arlington - Washington due to which it became owned by one of the Microsoft founders Paul Allen. The aircraft was restored by Charleston Aviation Services in Essex (England) and in January 2005 the aircraft was ready for ground tests. The aircraft is powered by a restored DB601 engine.
Since 1999 the aircraft was registered under the civil UK registration G-BYDS, but since 24 November 2004 it is registered as N342FH in the USA. Until middle 2007 the aircraft stayed at Arlington (Washington - USA) together with the other FHC warbirds. A new large hangar was built at Paine Field Airport in Everett (Washington - USA) and when it was finished the FHC moved there.
The aircraft does not wear an aircraft number yet, most probably because it is not 100% certain the aircraft really is "yellow 10".

Excellent, Huub! This will be a great addition to my virtual hangar of warbirds. It matches up with the restored example very, very well.

FHC has been presented with an original wartime photo of the aircraft (if not more) showing that it had a yellow 8 applied to the side (and with I believe the artwork of an ace of hearts below the cockpit/canopy). FHC are known for doing things at their own (sometimes extremely slow) pace however, so it could be in their intentions for these items to be added and they just haven't gotten around to it. I've seen the photo posted online before, and I'm trying to track it down again.

Here are some images during the restoration and early after the completion of the restoration, when the aircraft was still in England (as seen on both pages): http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?39645-That-109-at-Wattisham

Here are some nice air-to-air photos from the FHC Facebook page:

Why is the tail of the Me-109 stuck in the nose of the P-47 in that last photo..?

The photo was taken with a telephoto lens from a distance, so items farther away look closer in the photo (the aircraft are more spread apart than they appear to be). One of the side-effects of this too, is that the wing/wintip on the farther end appears larger than the wing/wingtip on the closer end. This same effect is duplicated in FSX as well, when you move the actual camera away from the aircraft (Ctrl + + and Ctrl + -).

John, you are correct about the fact that it is most probably yellow 8 and it had the same "ace of hearts" under the canopy as the personal marking from Josef Priller. However there are also pictures showing Hemmerling in his Bf109 with a sheep drawn under the canopy.

Strange enough pictures of this aircraft issued by FHC always look a bit brownish, while pictures made by others and especially when it was still in the UK always look a bit blueish :isadizzy::isadizzy::isadizzy:

Mottling is done with RLM02 while the darker spots are RLM71 on top the RLM02 spots.

Cheers,
Huub

Amazing screenshots, B12! My Emil has been rather neglected since A2A Accusimmed the Spitfire, P-40 and P-51, but this natty repaint is the perfect excuse to get it back in the air where it belongs. Thanks Huub, much appreciated.

My goodness Huub, that is extraordinary work, thank you so much!!!

...and I apologize for just responding here. It's been real busy around the house and work lately, so FSX stuff has taken a back seat.

Extraordinary screenshots John! I'm glad you all like the repaint. Once FHC applies the final scheme on this aircraft I will update the repaint.

I forgot to take out the pilot, which is edit of the pilot done by Rick "Smashing time" Spork for the FS9 WOP FW190.

Cheers,
Huub

Very nice! :jump:

That Bf-109E model is still a real looker, isn't it?
