So Sibwings or Aerosoft? Whoever comes out with the model first will get my hard earned. Aerosoft have been back peddling for months now on their build...for reasons best known to themselves?

Looks like Sibwings will definitely be out first, so that'll be my choice as well.

Sibwings will get my money. Until Aerosoft bans Snave and his insulting manner from their paying customer support forum, they'll get no more orders from me.

Guess the early bird gets the worm here, or should I say my money.

Unless of course Aerosoft comes with other variations like floats or gunship, then it will be a tough choice..

Amazing images of the An-2. Now that's what I call detail. CC ready!

Sibwings is a class act, right up there with MilViz and not too many others.

My kind of airplane... two wings, round engine... a few bent props... fantastic detail!!!

I really want to buy a good An-2.
Obviously, both models, from Sibwings or Aerosoft, will look really good. So my choice will be based on the realism.
The real An-2 starts like a P-47, with the intertial starter that you have to energize first. It's pretty fun to use with the Accusim P-47 and P-40, so I hope one (or both) of these future payware Colts will have such a starting sequence.

Yes sir, they've included an inertial starter that works much like that in the P-47. Great startup sounds, too.

Once I saw an An-2 start-up at a local airport, and even though it had a large add-on muffler on the side of the aircraft, it started with a huge "BANG!" :pop4: and a cloud of white smoke. Gave most of the people near the aircraft a good scare! :icon_lol:

BTW, I'm referring to the Sibwings variant. I have no insider knowledge of what Aerosoft are doing.

I too will be getting this cab when it's released by Sibwings.

Oh my-oh-my! Wouldn't THAT be a lollapalooza of a Colt -- with floats! For my needs, it would be exceptionally useful for bush flying (thinking RTMM country here)!

With only the wheeled version, I'll be flying this aircraft occasionally; with a float version included, it would definitely be my full-time bush plane, sans doubt!

Apparently, these won't be in the initial release, but they're planned.

Looks like the removable beaching gear is in place, which is what you're seeing. Two main wheels per float, plus a tail wheel.

Regarding that great video above, I can only imagine the swath of complaints that would flood in stating "I can't start this airplane!" if the simulated engine was as temperamental as that!

I'll definitely be buying one or the other of these packages. For me, the AN-2 is one of those enduring designs, like the DC-3...it's more than just an aircraft.

That startup video is really a blast. I would love to struggle to start my engine like that in FSX.
Some Accusim planes actually behave a bit like this. I fear the Sibwings one won't be *this* exciting, but if the start procedure is complete enough, at least it will be interesting to operate.

The graphics visible in that last screenshot are simply fantastic.

In that case the rear struts are removed from the floats - imagine landing with that amount of AoA to avoid digging the floats in? Terrific panel screenshot - Sergei! You have not cleaned up properly; you must use more carbolic soap, tovarich!

unfortunately sad but true.. Aerosoft will never see a dime from me also long as that guy is allowed such free reigns. They can bring out the next PMDG of whatever plane, I will not buy again from them. Sibwings my CR card is waiting

The wheels that are partially obscured by the floats aren't a regular land-based Colt's landing gear, as the main legs would be far too long. That said, I'm not sure whether the wheels ( two per float, one on each side ) are permanently fixtures, or attached to the floats as beaching gear when required. The second of Spotlope's linked photos shows a wheel on either side of the right float, plus the near-side one of the left float.

I'll be getting the Sibwings version rather than the Aerosoft version, but not because of bad attitude of the guy mentioned (which, I agree, is horrible). It's because Sibwings has impressed me more than Aerosoft. I know that different teams do different aircraft for Aerosoft, and whoever is responsible for the Catalina and the Hughes (I can't remember his name now) is fantastic. But I've been flying the Bird Dog since it was released, and it's one of my favorite planes. I recently got the Pitts, and it's raised the bar. That's an incredibly well done aircraft in every respect. I love the bouncing needles on the gauges, for instance. So, from the screenshots of the VC and what I know of Sibwings' record of developing top notch addons that always bring something extra to the party, there really isn't a contest for me. I've seen at least one AN-2 on the airshow circuit, but have never been particularly interested in the plane. But now I am, mostly because Sibwings is doing it.

I'm very interested in this one , to think you would find a AN-2 in New Zealand .. course we have one and it even displayed during a mid 1990s Wanaka Airshow and now a museum piece down just off site from the Wanaka airfield , "Sibwings" .. never brought a aircraft from this group , might just have to wander over to their shop .<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setT imeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setT imeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

I empathize and concur entirely! It has that dark, sorta-grotty "steam locomotive" look to it -- at least to my old eyes.

But the detail those guys at Sibwings put into their aerodynes! Makes me feel "a stirring in my loins". :male:

yeah, I took one look and then took a turn in the Hughes Racer and the Catalina...both with extremely atmospheric cockpits - still - this An-2's front office has something extry about it...

very texture rich and moody looking -

Yikes that looks horrible, way too 'disco'; it doesn't suit the interior of a vintage aircraft at all. I hope it's switch off-able.

Not pretty but apparently realistic! It uses the same technology as the IL-18, with UV lights and instruments that light up; like this:

Ah well, if its real, then thats the way it is. I still hope there's an on/OFF switch though. I've been looking at the daylight shots of the panel and VC again. What an extraordinary piece of work.
