There are quite a few freeware or open-source archiving programs out there as alternatives to WinZip (most are better alternatives too).
I haven't used WinZIP in years and am not sure if the current v12 is still just "nagware" once the eval period is up. Starting back around v10 or v11, the WinZIP crew finally woke up and started to incorporate support for other archive types (such as RAR, TAR, BGZ, etc but by that time I had long given up on WinZIP. In Windows, I use the paid-for version of WinRAR for most and 7-Zip (keep reading) for everything else.

Here's my open-source favorite. It'll handle unpacking about every archive format out there:

IZArc is another:

Yo scruff

In all fairness Bro; you seem to be struggling a bit with just operating your computer. I know that it can be difficult to understand everything at first, everyone has gone through this in the beginning (me too). But time & experience will soon be on your side.

You really don't need any fancy programs to deal with zip files; as this might only serve to make your life more difficult and confuse you further.

You only need to double click on any zip to open it. Then highlight the folder(s) inside & copy them to your desktop or to another folder.

Keeping things simple usually works best, plus causes you the least amount of frustration.

Where the fancy zip apps really shine is that they can compress the data even farther than the built-in Microsoft zip program. They also allow automatic installation to a number of folders. However you will learn more by doing everything manually until it become "second nature" to you.

I hope this advise helps you out.

PS. I have thought for a long time that CFS2 is really a just sinister plot by Microsoft to get older pharts to learn how to use a computer .... am I wrong?
