A tremendous 2 part video on youtube about Luftwaffe pilot Heinz Knoke. If anybody has not seen this video it is definitely worth watching. Wish I could supply the link to this youtube video but don't know how to do it.

...I read it first in about the 4th grade, having bought it from one of the school-sponsored book clubs. Fantastic book not only about flying and combat, but about the human condition in war. Probably wouldn't be allowed to be sold in today's classrooms-- it's not PC enough.

Gods i'm such a rabid american.. Thank the odd gods of the universe that wars do come to an end and we can all go back to celebrating life in all its diversity instead of killing each other because of it..

At exactly 14:17 minutes into the film, pause it and check out the spiral contrails coming off the b-17s engines. absolutely amazing..
