Hi everyone,

Had a quick question about piston engine sounds.

As I'm sure most of you know, FSX has followed in the footsteps of FS9 and FS2002 when it comes to the entirely incorrect sounds of constant speed props. It seems like on all recip powered airplanes, the engine sound is directly controlled by the throttle in flight. In real life, if you're flying along and reduce the manifold pressure 20 inches, youll barely, if at all, notice a change in engine sound. Because the propeller is turning at a constant speed, it continues to produce the same noise characteristics despite the lower manifold pressure.

I know some developers have mastered this concept on turbine engines, namely the DA Piper Cheyenne, Carenado B200, etc.

Does anyone know how to tweak piston engine sounds to be a little more realistic in this aspect?

Joe
