I figured out how to get the engines lit, but everything is in Russian, and I'm not good at reading that. There are New Textures, and the 2D and VC has been totally re-done and is nothing short of SPECTACULAR!! A nice upgrade to Vladimir's original AN-12BK. Just wish I had an in-cockpit translator for the plane in FS!. There is an included manual... in Russian. Anyone who can figure out how to get the nosewheel steering to work... It's in the procedures somewhere, and I know I'm doing it wrong. I've ben flying C-130's and A400M's too long.

I just downloaded this file from Avsimrus. As part of the normal pre-unpacking process I ran an Avast virus scan on it. The scan returned a result saying file "Yoke_bkd.bmp" is a "decompression bomb." A quick scan of the internet returned a couple of results saying this is not a virus, however, it apparently means this is a highly compressed file that will unpack to a very large size. Does this mean this file must relate to the virtual cockpit, or additions/upgrades to the 2d cockpit, since so many changes have been made to them?:icon_eek:

Blackbird686

It isn't that large of a file... and as a standard practice, I scan everything I download. Using Norton Internet Securities the file came up as clean. No threats.... No Bugs, nothing!

I usually (in most cases) un-pack the files to a temp location and then place the folder contents, or folders themselves into FS where they belong. But this version has some unusual folder contents and I'm not real sure... since everything is in Russian... where a few things need to be.

It appears that the aircraft config is the same, except for the new models and paint schemes. I'll be trying the contact points from the last AN-12 version I have to see if I can get the ground handling to work. Again, my Russian is not that good so I'm starring in a virtual movie about a guy who needs to get off an island and finds an AN-12. His mission is to try and figure out what switch does what... everything on the panel(s) is Russian and he cannot understand a bloody thing....:icon_lol:

You're right, there's no virus. Your analysis makes sense. Not long ago some kind soul on this forum actually translated to English a little of the folder contents for us benighted folks who don't speak Russian. I placed what I could into a folder that's on my desktop. Let me know if you'd like a copy. I'm interested in your contact point info if it seems to help things out!:salute:

Found out that whatever is causing the plane's ground handling not to work is somewhere in the panel. I tried the panel from V3 in the V2 model and it does the same thing. Placing V2's panel into V3 allows the ground handling to work, but defeats the advantages that the V3 has to offer. I also tried to add differential braking to V3's aircraft config, in the braking section. Even with the value set at 5.0, the brakes only work slightly to turn the plane.

The contact points for nose wheel steering from V2 have no effect on V3's ground handling. It still won't turn.

SO I'm back to V2 of the AN-12. It has a simpler panel, but it handles on the ground just fine. V2 also pretty much does what I want it to do, for now I'm back to flying it. V3's paints will work on V2, if one is so inclined.
Until I can either get an install manual in English, or a Flight Manual that explains how the new panel works and how to set up the nose wheel steering, I will fly V2 of the AN-12 by Vladimir. Until anyone else has figured out V3 and has some insight to offer, it's on the shelf for now. Too bad, the new panel is eye candy and the system activated voice responses in Russian are really very nice. Makes the plane all that more authentic to fly... even tho I have no clue as to what the crew is saying.

I haven't tried it to test but looking at the files there are a couple of indications to study:
An-12_XML/steer_lamp.xml
An-12_XML/steer_sw.xml
An-12_XML/sw_steer55.xml
Which hint at the fact he may have built in a steering toggle/wheel. I've seen several models that do this (FSD Aerostar is one) and it emulates real life. The panel .cfg will show the location for these - then test and see if they work. If so, pedal/braking likely will not.

Blackbird686
February 3rd, 2013, 12:40
I looked at the panel extensively, clicking on the various icons. I also looked at the panel config and saw those that you mentioned. I don't know enough about XML or panel configs to speak of and I thought for the most part that they were just indicators on the panel... some part of the panel somewhere. I didn't see a "wheel" by which to steer that was "mouseable"... but here again. Maybe dis-abling those XML gauges in the config temporarily may be the key to unlocking a few secrets about this new AN-12. Maybe not. Whoever the chap is that put this pack together really knew his stuff.

If you have Microsoft Word, you can open the manual, then the Review Tab, then Translate.

MS will translate the Russian to English in one click.

You can save the result back to your computer as an HTML file (without pictures).

AIRCRAFT ANTONOV an-12BK

Model for MSFS 2004, version 3, January 2013.

[1st pic}

This work is a further development of the models of the aircraft an-12BK produced Uladzimir Žigul′skim in February 2009 (version 2) for SimulatorMFS2004.
3(D) model aircraft remained unchanged and was not in any way.
All other elements (external texture, texture dynamics model, VC, Panel) have been replaced by new ones.

Texture

The new textures was taken work d. Smirnova
Antonov An-12-FSX Livery and aircraft textures-Avsim.su (http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=ru&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.avsim.su%2Ff%2Ffsx-livrei-i-teksturi-dlya-samoletov-78%2Fan-12-38017.html%3Faction%3Ddownload%26hl%3D%25D0%2590%2 5D0%25BD-12) .
The work, to be sure, zamečatel′nejšaā.
Virtually unchanged from it were the texture of the wings and stabilizer. Everything else was drawn again.
This package provides a twenty colour variants of the aircraft.
I think many will be able to find the texture itself.
There are several variants of the aircraft color BTA, Aeroflot Soviet airlines today.

[2nd pic]

Was completely pereteksturena the virtual cockpit model.

[3rd pic]

In addition, the Archives holds apaint kit , allowing users who own graphics editors like Photoshop, can easily draw new textures for this model.

Panel

Basis 2(D)Panel is workingak vovansv r
The Antonov An-12 (3: 4) and textures in FS2004 aircraft, VK-Panel-Avsim.su (http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=ru&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.avsim.su%2Ff%2Ffs2004-paneli-samoletov-41%2Fpanel-an-12-34-i-teksturi-paneley-v-vk-33200.html%3Faction%3Ddownload%26hl%3D%25D0%2590%2 5D0%25BD-12) .
Many fans of the an-12 is probably already familiar with this Panel. It was built mainly using devices of IL-Gricevskogo Stepan 18. I will not talk in detail about the instrumentation, think you will be able to sort this out.
A bit about the changes with the kind permission ofak vovansv rI allowed myself to.
New bitmaps were painted all the additional panels, has not changed only the bitmaps the FAC (I think he is drawn very well).
[4th pic]

The general idea, I would have said so, display jobs crew – the workplace CF, a radio operator, flight technology, Navigator.
All additional Windows open – close icons.

Very shortly I will tell that where included.
On the Board-wireless operator
position 1-powered batteries on board,
position 2 – the edges of two toggle-converters and FRI (must be included for autopilot), default avionics switch (don't forget to include – without it, many devices don't work).
[5th pic]

The on-board equipment:
There are practically no changes.
1 – position switches fuel taps,
2-position toggle switches run engines
Position 3 is an Acme zone, opening-closing lids Launchpad engines and TG-16 (by the way, they are now offered separately). TG-16, unfortunately, still just a mockup. The aircraft systems-the challenge for the future and for experienced programmers.

[6th pic]

The new Panel was made flūgirovaniā.
Due to the use of other variables in the flūgirovanii one of the engines, such as flight, next to the airplane in the air do not appear parking pads.
Here you can see the toggle switch remove lock screws (closed CAP, a right-click).
Don't expect – as this system does not work. I just managed to hang on to the toggle switch on the reverse defoltnogo. But, as I
mention programmers-go for it!

[7th pic]

The Navigator:
Everything in General as before, only bitmaps redrawn. Toggle switches enable equipment placed on the top plate (the anologii with this plane). Here are the system RSBN and US-1 Stepan Gricevskogo (instruments from the IL-18).
Views were expressed at the Forum under the health equipment, in particular stated that does not include US meters. Now they are in the center of the switch (position 1).
Otherwise I cannot say reliably-Bad is familiar with these systems and have little experience flying with them. But at first glance, like everything is working.
To help manage the site the Navigator, air has supplemented the ARGL-aviagorizontom 1 (icon).
There are also navigation line NL-10 (author: Kirill Konovalov and ak Sins), open with a click on the image of a ruler on the table of the Navigator (position 2).

[8th pic]

For my pride – view from the cab of the Navigator (open key "W"). for this kind of managed to pick up a nice pictures and well his link. on my mind turned out beautifully.
It also installed meteoradar hurricane, icons can be called autopilot, gyro andGPS.

[9th pic]

Well here it seems all about jobs.
When working with the Panel must take into account how you will have additional Windows overlap each other.

For proper overlap recommend required before:
1. Open 2(D)Panel (type of FAC)
2. Open-Close view from the cab of the Navigator (key W)
Next icons
3. Open-close-to-radio operator panel
4. Open-close-to-Panel technology
5. Open-Close flūgirovaniā toolbar
6. Open the Navigator
From the Navigator Panel icons
7. Open-close the AGD-1
8. Open – close the GAS STATION
9. Open-close Flip course-MP
10. Open – close the ARCH
11. Open – close the autopilot Panel
12. Open – close the GPS
13. Open – close the navigation line NL-10,
Clicking on the image of a ruler on the table of the Navigator.
After these procedures, all the Windows you have open in flight.

Dynamics

This package uses the variant dynamics, published on the siteavsim.suAuthor:geohotin
The an-12 dynamics model in. Žigul′skogo. -FS2004 aircraft configuration and Dynamics-Avsim.su (http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=ru&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.avsim.su%2Ff%2Ffs2004-dinamika-i-konfiguracii-samoletov-36%2Fdinamika-an-12-modeli-v-zhigulskogo--44225.html%3Faction%3Ddownload%26hl%3D%25D0%25B0%2 5D0%25BD-12) .
Dynamics is debatable and controversial. If this option is not for you, you can replace it with another.
I personally have this work in addition to positive emotions, nothing is.
In this it is possible to change the dynamics, loading the aircraft.
The amount of fuel is real.
So I like the new rigor in claims in various stages of flight, angle of attack. Almost overlooked corners, or by dragging the wheel – get a stall.
According to my subjective feelings runway-landing performance pretty close fall into what is described in the "instructions to the crew of the an-12 aircraft.
Flying has become more interesting.

Installation

I tried to pack everything to make the fitting model.
To do this, place the contents of the foldersAircraft, GaugesandEffectsin the corresponding folders of your Simulator. If you have not already installed the Tu-134 model fromSCS,
the folderSCSyou will have to put in the root folder of the Simulator.
Here is the entire installation.

A little more focus on the contents of the folder "EffectsZH"It is the fileAircraft.cfg, which describes the effects of Vladimir Žigul′skogo and texture (which in my case is replaced) to these effects.
About the effects of:
Many of them have probably already familiar.

This smoke when starting engines, engine smoke while running (running on automatically, depending on the position of the ORES)

[10th pic]

the effect of dust on unpaved airfields,
[11th pic]

shooting flares,

[12th pic]

and reflections on the cabin Windows
[13th pic]
Install all optional content placement in appropriate folders of the Simulator.

A few words about a small problem with textures:
While working on the model, it was observed that the change of species (for example, when you switch from VC to an external camera) there has been a blurring of textures of the terrain around the aircraft. Identify the cause and win this issue. Have to put up with it.
Well, personally I like the blur stops after pressing "Esc».
The next change of the types of problem appears again (though not always).

Thanks Milton, for the English version of the manual for V3.

In the manual is was indicated that there were a few problems with the textures causing the notorious "scenery blurries". Changing specific textures to 32bit from DXT3 using Martin Wright's DXTBMP will eliminate this issue. I believe I have the correct listing and if anyone is experiencing this issue and wants that list of textures, let me know. I have tested the model with the converted textures and it runs fine on my system... no blurries.

On my CH Yoke, it the right-most lever I typically have assigned to mixture. For TPs, it is the Prop Condition.Idle/Fuel Cutoff lever.

If you can find any levers for the mixture or fuel cutoff, then simply use the standard keyboard combo that sets the mixture to 100% ==> CTRL+SHIFT+F4.
(CTRL+SHIFT+F1 will set the mixture to zero, which is the same as fuel cutoff, so the engines will turn off)

This plane talks to you... in Russian. Even if you are in the spot view you can hear the Flight Engineer repeating what the pilot calls out. Earlier I posted a note about the textures possibly causing the scenery fuzzies... it appears that converting all of them to 32bit is the only solution, unless you know what specific textures are causing the problem. The package comes with all of the individual texture bitmaps in each folder in DXT3 format. I took one texture file and converted the whole thing, then set up a copy of that texture file as a default 32bit template. From that, I just move each exterior texture for the different planes into the default, make a copy and re-name the folder accordingly. Tedious, but it'll do the trick.

Makes me wonder how files get corrupted via the wire. I downloaded my copy the same day it was released and had no issues... other than my inability to read Russian. I basically flew the model by the seat of my pants, remembering how the functions of Version 2's panel worked. All the gauges did exactly what they were supposed to do... force me to fly the An-12 as per "regulation".

After lots of trial and error... I finally have the texture conversion to get rid of the "blurries" completed. I compiled a default folder with the converted textures (the external model textures and the pilot bmps were fine so no conversion needed) and just copied it to each texture folder, replacing the originals. Voila! If anyone is experiencing the "blurries" and would like a copy of my fix for it just let me know.

Not sure if the "An-12BK Cargo" model can be aliased to the panel and sound for An-12BK_V3... it's a different model altogether, but I'll get back to you lot on that one.

Thanks for the HU, Steve... I have several of the paints you did for the 09 version of the An-12. I'll have a look at the tyres and see what's what.

It's only the tread on the tyres thats different the side walls of the tyres are fine.
