Just an assortment of screenshots. About half of them are just studies of parked aircraft. ; )

(Larger versions can be seen by clicking on the images and viewing them on Flickr)

I liked the way the canopy glass looked in this first one.

Superb shots and textures as always! The mustang population for FSX is really beginning to grow quite large..

If you stuck pilots of equal skill into each aircraft, it definitely would become interesting! I know that from flying formation with these two in FSX, it is better to put the slightly slower Mustang in the lead slot, and the 109K on the wing, rather than the other way around, as the 109K is prone to pulling away from the Mustang a bit.

As MudMarine puts, you stick someone like Maj. Leonard 'Kit' Carson into any one of the two, and he would come out on top every time. Kit Carson was the leading ace of the 357th FG.

In regards to the scenery - it is all as staged as a movie. ; ) The location where the Mustang is parked, is Masterton (Hood Aerodrome) located in New Zealand. The first couple of parked screenshots of the 109 were taken, as suggested, at ACG's Duxford scenery (one of them being in sort of a 'back lot' area of the airfield/museum, which I find makes for some cool/unique screenshots). The last 109 screenshot is parked in front of the WWI German hangar included in the airport scenery that comes with the Neoqb Fokker Dr.I (one of the same hangar models that can be seen in Rise of Flight).

When depicting "Nooky Booky IV", I chose to recreate it as it was in its last configuration (before the end of the war). With the last couple of kill markings being applied to the side of the aircraft, the arrangement of the forward-most kill markings changed a bit, towards the end of its service. When the tally had rissen to 22, the top row was extended out, as far as the line of the firewall. When 23 was made, however, that 22nd kill marking was erased and re-positioned onto the front of the second row, and with the 23rd kill marking added to the front of the third row. It also wasn't until quite late, that the "Maj. 'Kit' Carson" text was applied to the canopy frame. Besides the K-model Aeroproducts prop blades, note other details like the P-38 mirror, APS-13 tail warning radar, and foul weather lights on the fuselage, which were all added to the aircraft while in service in England.

The first two photos here show the tally at 22, where as the second set of two photos shows the final arrangement with the tally at 23.

This is the very last photo known to exist of "Nooky Booky IV", after it had been cut-up awaiting smelting in Europe. Although somewhat sad to look at, this photo does provide some great insight into a number of details. You can see the pilot's seat in the bottom left corner (it shows modifications to have side panels added from the seat base to the side support bars). Note the feathered edge of the star on the wing panel (showing upper surface), possibly indicating that the wing's silver finish had been touched up while in service. In the aft fuselage, you can see some of the balsa wood edges which were in-place to provide support to the fuselage fuel tank (that is a from the factory detail - all Mustangs, especially those with fuselage tanks, had a fair amount of balsa wood in them). You can see on 44-72187 behind, that it has the red/yellow/red occupation stripes on the fuselage that were applied to Mustangs operating in Germany after V.E. day.
