Betty Hutton was a great performer. I didn't even know she had died in March of 1997:

I have enjoyed all her movies. Her vocal talents may not have been the quality of some, but no one can say she wasn't entertaining! She was so animated and funny in many of her songs. Here's an example. In this clip, she is singing "Murder, He Says!", with Bob Hope introducing her. You'll have to wait about a minute and a half before Betty really gets into it, but she was a true gem, and such a goof!! Enjoy.

and here is her singing, "Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief"

and her singing, "Old Man Mose"

and lastly, her singing, "I'm Just A Square In the Social Circles"

I will miss her. She was a true talent.

I only wrote one fan letter and that was to Betty Hutton telling her how much I enjoyed her and how funny she was.. She answered me with a sweet personal note.
Unfortunately she got to drinking after one bad thing after another and ended up being a housekeeper in a Connecticut Nunnery where she died.

Yes Helldiver,

She led a sad life, considering the personal problems she had.

There was an interview done with her by the host of TCM in 2000: I copied it to dvd....

It is on Youtube in six parts. The series of videos is somewhat long, but even then, Betty was a lively woman. You could still see her enthusiasm for life, and her many accomplishments.

They just don't make'em like her anymore.

There are some real fine ladies out there on TCM. Just saw Cyd Charise and Ginger Rodgers in movies last night.

Pauke! Pauke!

navychief: Thanks for the gems! YouTube has some great clips of Betty Hutton. There is a website for her where it looks like they have streaming video of some of her movies. It's http://www.satinsandspurs.com/ (http://www.satinsandspurs.com/) and looks pretty good.

Pauke Pauke,

Outstanding link!!! I will be watching those videos! THANKS!

I just watched the short clips you put in your post. I had forgotten what a great dancer Betty H. was. Honestly, I believe she would have given Ginger Rogers a run for her money; watching Betty dance with Fred Astaire! They made it look so easy. But that was just it; I know for a fact that both of them were perfectionists, and practiced constantly. The end results were what you see.

Betty's physical antics were hilarious. Just watch her putting lyrics to motion is a joy to behold.
