Triple by-pass last April resulted in 12 weeks of cardiac rehab.
Passed with flying colors.
To celebrate, I loaded the motorcycle and rode 300 miles to take
a para-gliding course (P2).
Upon completion, I was offered a brand new $5,000 rig for $3,500
(wing, harness and reserve).
I bought it and am heading home tomorrow.....(having the rig shipped).

The Problem: explaining the purchase to the old lady..........
I'm gonna call it "a cardio fitness machine that flies".

What do you guys think ???

Dude, when you are up in the air and you look over your shoulder at the clouds, and look down at the tops of trees and hills every care you have in the world will melt away.

Speaking as a casual aviator for 40 years :D That is as healthy as it gets. :jump:

You got a great deal on that machine, congratulations on the rating!

One of my favorite songs, I think this says more than you can express with words. Play it to your wife. :wiggle:

Thanks for the responses.......

my philosophy is that its easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission...
AND she is a very forgiving lady.
I'm not worried....
I'm not worried....
I'm not worried....

Good on you!
I was back on the bike within 2 weeks of my AMI - and the stresses just melt away.
Looks like fun - enjoy.

Good dog ! You'll have a blast. The wife will understand. . . or smack you with the rolled newspaper.

Glad you're feeling better and all was successful - :running:

Wow! What a lucky dog you are with that new para wing and a well ticking ticker!

I did some hang gliding in the 80s and I really enjoyed that, but the para wing looks to be the best way to enjoy the sky. I saw quite a few of them in the Alps earlier this year and surprisingly, not nearly as many hang gliders as in years past. Several of those para wings had a harness with a small motor and pusher propeller and apparently could stay airborne even without updrafts.

Best of luck getting that through the front door! I usually bring new toys home through the garage as the wife generally doesn't intrude into that most manly of domains. I think that after 36 years, she's come to realize that sometimes it's just better not to ask...

Well, my new toy arrived and the "old lady" didn't even bat an eye........

not even the "and how much did that cost?" routine.

I guess I AM a lucky dog !!

Please you have to get someone to video tape a flight for us. I would love to see that.
