It looks fantastic !

What about the "realism" of the cockpit procedures ? Like, engine starting etc... ? I don't remember reading anything about this. It's one of the main strong points of the freeware model, so I really hope this new payware will be at least as realistic/complete :)

A total of 17 liveries has been made for this bird (it was difficult to stop painting :icon_lol:)

However, only 6 liveries will be a part of the release. The rest will come as two optional downloads.

Little 'inside' joke about the Portugese Colin; there's an F-86 in the museum where Vinflyer works , which is painted like the a Wolfhounds Sabre, but in it's previous life it belonged to the Portugese airforce. Now after years of standing outside in the Dutch climate the original Portugese markings are showing through, and some of the markings have never been painted over so some of the warning signs are in a somewhat strange language for a USAFE bird!

Edit: Here's two photos:

Hi

Yellow lettering into black rectangle:
1-Open door and pull cable to unblock (or unlock) cover (canopy)
2-Open handle door (or cover) on cabin cover (canopy) and push back.

The big yellow arrow says "salvamento" wich means rescue....

Sorry, but without meaning to be rude, tactless or undiplomatic, I am going to stop this right now:

1) the price is 34.99 and, if you buy it from our site, you can return it, no questions asked, within 30 days for a FULL refund.
2) the pilot is a relative 6 feet tall and is just fine where he is. Please remember, there are short and tall people in the world. (check real pics for size please)
3) he is wearing the correct colors and clothing for his day.
4) The plane, we believe, flies like a Sabre.
5) the left tail fin has 86 rivets and that is the correct number for the left tail fin.
6) it is our intention to arm this plane once (if) Tacpack for devs is ever released.
7) though I/we expect the comparisons to be endless, no further comments will be made on those comparisons by any MV team member. So feel free to make them and to make your own comparisons... we will, again, not be making any comments.

Thanks for your attention.

wow....alrighty then......seems a bit drastic to me to put it this way on a forum that people are only trying to be constructive. May have to rethink this one now........customer service and critque are very important to me....and someone who takes themselves and their product this serious.......without being open to dicuss with members here may just loose money for being such.

krazycolin
October 10th, 2012, 21:20
Actually, we did discuss it. But it keeps coming back.

Critique is fine but what about when I show you that ours is right? Then you show me a pic of something else that is right as well. people are different sizes. How can I deal with that?

as an FYI, We have great customer service. We do listen. Our response time is less than 48 hours on all issues. (Usually far less). We fix nearly all of our bugs and we do it quickly.

How about this statement? We don't feel that comments comparing ours with the other product are valid or something we should be talking about.... Is that better?

In the end it's semantics. The idea is that you have a choice. But so do we. We think our payware version is worth the money. You can decide for yourself. Or not. But if you do, you can count on us being there to support you as our customer.

Oh and I do take this seriously. We spend a huge amount of effort, time and money on doing this right.

We're hashing out some bugs we found in the latest build. Once those are taken care of, we'll have a final release candidate, and once that clears, it's just a matter of uploading the final version onto our sales section. We won't keep you guys waiting any longer than necessary, and we'll always keep you in the loop. That's a promise :)

The Sabre looks great!
Regarding the MiG, there is one available for FSX from Bear Studios (through Flight1) but if Milviz plans on making one as well, I'm certainly excited for that!

We have finally tackled and destroyed a bug which we've been going after since the early Alpha build!

Good day! We're getting close!

Edit: Let's just say this bug has been such a pain where the sun don't shine, that I had a dream about it last night.

Feels good!

Who was flying ECM pods on T-33's?

ColoKent
October 12th, 2012, 10:36
1. USAF Defense Systems Evaluation Squadron (DSES) units in the 60's and 70's flew with ECM and chaff pods (these units where used to exercise US air defense capability and they flew EB-57s and AT-33s)
2, The Canadian Forces also flew a version called the ET-33 (I think) used to exercise other aircraft (F-18s for example)

Kent

JAllen
October 12th, 2012, 12:17
I thought as much. From 1966 to 1968 I worked ECM for the 4677 DSES at Hill AFB for the EB-57D and E's. I heard back then that ALE-2's were being used on some T-33's somewhere. But, never heard about active ECM pods of any sort.

ColoKent

As I already wrote about the F15 elsewhere, there's sensuality in these textures... I've never seen other cockpit with that feeling that you can touch the metal, the paint or the glass and they will feel like metal, paint or glass... This is a masterpiece, and I could buy this plane for this sole reason, like a book or a picture.

Anneke
October 13th, 2012, 00:14
All nice and dandy (it really is nice :)) but as has been asked before and not answered. How's this airplane replicating the systems? I want to have some work to do in the cockpit. I want to have to worry about flame outs and it's quirks in flight behaviour. Is it replicated and to what extent?

Thank guys for making such a beautiful aircraft (as all your stuff)!

Stunning pictures Diego, thanks for posting!

As a user of Gmax [ok, a very poor one] and Paint Shop Pro, I'm just gobsmacked at the care and detail... Just look at the wiring coil to the map lamp - amazing.

I'm sure many of you recall the FS9 F-86 made by Kirk Olsson? It was superb for it's time, but my we've come a long way thanks to great developers such as Milviz.

Plastic is at the ready for this beauty.

Dave.

October 13th, 2012, 00:59
@Anneke: the plane is not exactly complex in terms of systems. The only major thing we didn't do (yet) is the weapons/radar system(s). As for flameouts... it wasn't known for that but, that said... there are things that can "happen"... bad things....

Is this the same Sabre that was shown with the over-done weathering and domed rivets a few months ago ? Can't remember if that was by Milviz, but whatever, THIS one is great !

Check out that coiled flex at the left - a classic case of 'the little details that really make a model'. Lovely work, and as somebody who prefers props, even I might get it.

...I beg you to reconsider on the F-15E. DO NOT BUY THIS ADDON!!!!

....Because of the Milviz F-15E, I have no AI aircraft in my sim (I used the F-15E to shoot them all down), no addon scenery (I bombed it all to heck), and no one wants to fly with me in multiplayer. Ever. I have no AI, scenery, or flying friends as a result of the Milviz Strike Eagle. Stay away from it....it is as addictive as any drug out there, and can cause serious side effects in real life (like starting fights with total strangers for no reason at all just because the F-15E makes you feel invincible). So, I say again, DO NOT BUY IT!!

I'll make the paint kit as easy as possible to use.
A total of 17 liveries has been made for this bird (it was difficult to stop painting :icon_lol:)

However, only 6 liveries will be a part of the release. The rest will come as two optional downloads.

Paint is certainly affordable and I don't know whether or not you're joking but in years past that has been the case. Several designers I've had to work with were not painters and when they did paint they used MS Paint. As a result they painted the aircraft almost from scratch for each scheme.

Same here. Find it too expensive to own the latest PS so a lot of repaint kits can't be used. I end up having to rebuild them for my own use layer by layer from what does come across. But that's a personal issue.

But more on topic, the blank bare metal F-86 looks very fine. Always nice to have a "blank" canvas to work from.

Paint wise, this is one I would never touch as far as repainting is concerned because from the looks of the schemes that are being done, they are the crem de la crem. I would have no desires for any other schemes.
For those who will be painting this one, I agree. Having a blank bare metal texture will save them from a lot of editing and build-up for the acquired "finished" look.

What's already been shown for schemes that appear to be available at, or close to release, they look remarkably done.

If you think just "waiting" is frustrating, think a moment about us poor folks slaving away 16 hours/day for the past week or more tracking down and nailing the last niggling detail... :isadizzy:

Hope there aren't many of those last niggling details left! Looking forward to seeing the Sabre in all her glory, and getting into aerobatics in that gorgeous Goldenhawks livery!

Hi,

Will there be a South African "Flying Cheetahs" livery?

Craig.

Craig

Once released and bought, I will be doing the livery of the F-86 "Black Dick" flown in Korea by my late friend Henk Ludick.

Once the basic livery is done, it will be easy enough to do other personalised liveries for 2 Squadron Sabres.

Cheers

Please be gentle...this was filmed with my iPhone, my voice is barely audible, and many features weren't present at the time of filming (AoA buffet for example).

As for what's going on, a quick takeoff, some flying (of course), a stall recovery, and a poor attempt at a low pass down center-line.

I'm wondering, though, has there been attention given to multiplayer flooding? The T-38 is very bad in that respect, for instance.

Make sure you test it with the latest model. As for the Sabre, I made darned certain that there is no flooding of key events. Its way easier to control them with C++ than XML anyway.

How do we make sure we have the latest version of the T-38?

I don't own it (since it was flooding as recently as August when one of the guys was talking with you about it on your forum), but several of the guys on the MP server do, and they are pretty sure they have the latest version. Perhaps not, so if you could explain how to ensure we do, that would help.

krazycolin
October 24th, 2012, 17:25
Go to our forums. Get the latest from your vendor.

griphos
October 24th, 2012, 17:35
Yes, that's Flight1. Is there some way we ensure that we're getting the latest version using the Flight1 interface? Just reinstall?

Because testing the version we have shows flooding of at least 10/1 still. I'm encouraged to hear that it is easier to avoid these issues on the Sabre because of the programming language used, and that attention has been paid to this, but would be more confident of that if I could assure myself that the T-38 has indeed been fixed.

griphos
October 24th, 2012, 18:02
I'm not wanting help, actually, since I don't own the T-38, as I said. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. I asked about whether attention to flooding has been paid on the Sabre, and referenced the flooding of the T-38 as an example. You said it was fixed. This is what led me to follow up with questions about that. On your forum now, though, I see it hasn't fully been fixed. But that is a matter of the T-38 and so I will let that drop here, as you suggest.

As I said, I'm encouraged by what you and Naruto-kun have to say. I'd love to have the Sabre. It is an iconic plane, one of my all-time favorites, and looks like you guys have done simply an amazing job on it. But I rarely fly single-player, and our MP servers often have several dozen people on it at once. If the Sabre floods, it's a no-go for me and most of the guys I fly with. So, I'm very much hoping it doesn't. And I'm glad to hear that MP compatibility is a priority for your new releases.

krazycolin
October 24th, 2012, 18:07
Well then, it's a good thing that I say that it has been tested for it. And, don't forget, you get 30 days to try it.

I do need to stress that I never and will not say that MP is a priority. It isn't. It's just in the list as one of the things to be checked, tested and verified.

So it is still the same old same old..

The guy only asked how can he insure he got the latest version..

what is easier to say, open the plane, check in aircraft.cg or where-ever, there you will find an entry at the top saying version 2.9B. when you see that, you know you have latest.

This isn't meant as an attack merely as information for your thought(s)...

Not a single one of our vendors stops you (the client) from downloading and (re-) installing what you paid for. Not one. All, repeat all of our vendors have the latest of all of our products. We send it to them at the same time in the same email. So, unless there's someone who cannot download and reinstall (or install as the case maybe) his/her product I'm not seeing what the big deal is for a: not providing support on SOH (been banned already and had to use proxies to do everything. Not fun) and b: not providing support for someone who doesn't even own the product.

On this matter, and for all support issues for all MV products, our forums or the Avsim MV forums are where you will get your answers. This is how we can make sure that we answer all issues in the same manner.

Well it has been proven numerous times that vendors not always have the latest version. So please the guy do not have an support issue. He merely asked how does he know he has the latest version. Every developer somewhere have a place where they record the latest version.

So again, what is easier to say, go look in that file, if it show version 2.9 then you good to go with latest version.

Why for heavens sake do I need to go download a product and still I dont know if I have the latest version. it is not about downloading latest version it is about how do I know I actually have got the latest version even though I just downloaded the "lastest" version. NOT all vendors are always up to date, and that has been proven over again and again. Even I havee had a similar issue where a product was updated, but the update was send to the vendor the vendor appearently never received it and never uploaded it. In that case I had to download the product 4 times until I eventually got the right version and that was only after the developer intervened and contacted the vendor.

I have numerous times asked a similar type qquestion on forums not related to the developer "support" forum and always have been told "just go there, left top corner on that file, you will see the version. does it match the latest version. Yes, you OK, No, time to further invetsigate why you dont have latest.

Personally, I am not going to log a support call unless I know I have the wrong version. Finding out if I have the right/wrong version is for me just an absolutely no issue and can be determined from any forum as most people know where to look for the version number.

So stop thinking we critising you, so stop getting thing in a knot over nothing. Just another case where I find the answer "rude" and that is my personal observation, but then again its not been the first time and surely it will not be the last time we will see this.

This product as Diego says is on FINAL. There are no support issues with the Sabre as of yet. This thread is about the upcoming F-86 Sabre not issues with MILVIZ. Please take any issues you have with MILVIZ directly to them. It is best not to bring up the past but to look forward. Please keep this thread on track about what looks to be one of the best aircraft releases yet.
