I have updated the D18S Passenger model to include a full interior model and a few other minor adjustments for FSX.

Would anyone like to check this out in FSX as a port over.

I am willing to make minor adjustments but nothing major at this point.

This is a small zip (17MB) with the one original paint scheme.

Feel free to check it out and I will try to accommodate light changes before uploading a final version.

Thanks for your time and effort.

EDIT: Since we have about 40 downloads now and feedback coming in, I have removed the link so that I can make the changes and re-upload. Thanks for all teh help. :-)

Milton,

Maybe not what you wanted, but tried it out in P3D v1.4 and works well. No complaints from me. I'll leave it to the experts to provide any technical criticism.

Thanks again.:salute:

Colin.

Dear Milton

All fine

tiny glitches in FSX SP2 ACC

the gauge01=fpda_gear_wind, 41,-2,10,10 is not FSX compatibel

Some bleed through in VC with lights on and off (edge of Parking brake panel)

Bottom texture quite different to side(which is great !!)

Great Roland. The mapping and textures were done 7 years ago ... wasn't my best mapping job so the bottom textures are stretched. :-/ I will remove the FPDA gauge. I really appreciate your time and efforts on this test. :-)

Still a lovely model after all this time! All I would like added to your work for this FsX port version are the prop roots very visible when a very dark alpha makes the prop blur minimal. Is there a way to make the prop roots transparent when moving?

Thanks again for all your efforts Milton:ernae:

Roger, thanks for that reminder. I intend to remove them altogether. I could make them more transparent but I think removing is best.

The only one thing I noticed was the prop blade animation seemed a bit odd. Tends to stay stationary under power and kind of slowly revolves left or right.

Thanks dvj. On takeoff power, no more than 5 minutes, that will be the case. Once you achieve the initial climbout, you should be pulling the prop back to max continuous RPM's as shown on the gauge. Once you do that, the blurred prop animation should be fine.

Rick,

Thanks Rick. The whole panel including that window requires the ST_D18.cab in either the panel folder or the FSX/Gauges folder. I see it in the package I uploaded. Do you not have that?

Thanks for the head-up.

Well, that is interesting.

Although I show the gauge cab in the package I uploaded, it does not appear in the download I just did. :-/

I will correct the archive. Meanwhile, attached is the gauge cab zipped.

Later: Okay, I see what I did. You will need both the attached cab files.

Just unzip and copy each of the cab files to your panel folder.

I have revised the upload to include the 2 cab files as of now.

If you download after this post's timestamp, you should have all 3 cab files in the panel folder.

My apologies to those affected.

For those of you who were not affected, you likely had the ST_D18 and Tripacer.cab in your general FSX/Gauges folder.

Yes Mike.

That's one of the things that allow these issues to pop up on release.

I usually have the cabs in the generic gauges folder from previous like-releases.

So, the test works fine until someone grabs it who did not have the earlier release of this or a like-product.

It's one of the frustrating things that happen after so much testing. That's why a public beta is a good thing to do.

Unfortunately, I thought to include the cabs in the beta test but not in the final release. :-)

Thank you Mike. Lots of appreciation for understanding and support for the many things required to be "right" to get these releases working for everyone.

Happy to keep plugging away here to bring some added joy to the hobby. I know that portovers are not for everyone but some do appreciate having at least a portover over nothing even though they are not much more than a poor substitute for a native version.

Thank you Milton and I'll give her a whirl. How is the DHC7 coming?

The Dash 7 textures are coming along very well. Mike Kelly is very maticulous about texture details and I am in no hurry. When its ready, you all will be first to know. :-)

Happy you like the Avia products. I am not aware of any repaints as I do not frequent other sites.

I just downloaded the D18S.Five minutes ago.I have been following this thread.

I have a couple of questions.

Since I just downloaded the D18S.Is this one the beta or the final version?

After I downloaded the plane.I looked inside the panel folder and the three .CAB file's ST_D18/ST_Xpnder and the Tripacer_DME are there.I looked inside my main FSX guages folder. The same .CAB files are there as well. These are dated 1/21/12.Will I experience any guage conflicts when I install the new D18S I just downloaded?.

I mentioned in a previous reply. The other Beech 18's I have installed is the Beechcraft MSA AT-11/C-45H Cargo and the Beechcraft MSA D18S passenger Amphibian.I guess this is why I have the same Guage .CAB files in my main FSX Guages folder.

I hope I don't have any plane conflicts, based on the others I have installed?.

If you downloaded from SOH just now, you have the final version of the D18S for FSX port-over.

You will have no issues with either set of the ST_D18.cab (or other cabs) with the D18S.

If you have these 3 cab files in your main gauges folder, you can delete the ones from the D18S folder. They have not changed.

Hope this helps.

It's an air file problem I think. The port over uses D18Shupe. All the FS2004 textures use D18S. I guess it's just a matter of changing these to the D18Shupe air file. I will post in an hour or two with the result.

The air file name itself has no bearing on the folders and textures.

Just make sure that the [fltsim] section data agrees with the folder names and the sim name.

Hello,

One of my friend, Marc Haardoin, have done in the past, several beautiful repaints of the D18S for Fs9. Take for example hs french navy repaint. You can find it under the name texture.marine.zip at Avsim. To use it with the fsx I have used thee following procedure:
1/ Unzip the texture.marine.zip in a temporary folder
2/ In tthe D18Sfsxport folder make a copy of the texture folder and rename the copy texture.marine
3/ Take all the files of the fs9 paint folder and copy them in the texture.marine you have previously created. Accept to overwrite the files.
4/ In the fs9 paint you have a marine.jpg file. Copy this file under the name thumbnail.jpg
5/ ea safeguard copy of the aircraft.cfg file unnder another name. Then editt the aircraft..cfg file and add

[fltsim.1]

Uncle Milton,

I would like to see this bird made compatible with the new port over. It's the Navy JRB2 that was in the FS9 corral. I have copied some of the textures files from the core plane and for
the most part, it's not too bad however I need some seats in the back (black void for now) and the other files that would make this compat with the new portover.

bmd,

I think its great that everyone can set these as they like them.

The original kept the cockpit as dark as possible so as not to destroy night vision.
If you fly night time with lights out in the room, even the original is a little bright.
Of course, all these at my room and monitor settings.

I set it based on comments I have received over 10 years of doing night lighting.

Of course everyones monitor brightness and color displays are different. That's why it is so important for simmers to be able to tweak their own.

Thanks

Stovall converted a model file for use as AI.

The attached removes the Interior model/VC, and horizontal tail lights.

Anyone who wishes to setup an AI with this is welcome to.

This is heavy for a typical AI model (texture-wise) but as long as it is spawned sparingly in each setting, it should do fine.

Of course you can downsize the textures by half (and maybe convert to 8-bit) with minimal clarity affect at distance.

This is just the b18ms.mdl file, not a full complement of an AI folder.

EDIT: Updated attachment to change landing light animation to be active with gear animation.

Thanks Milton, I am off to give this a try. The objective is to remove the landing lights from working and the light on the horizontal stabilizer. Thanks for doing this.

Just returned from the test. All visible lights removed. All that is left is the animation of the landing lights beneath the winds. That would make the AI model perfect.

Tom,

I got your message after I posted the model above. I did not remove the landing lights. If you would like, I can animate them with the gear, or remove altogether.

Milton

EDIT: What about cowl flaps? Would you prefer them closed?

Stovall,

I updated the attachment above to have the landing lights animate and come on when gear comes down.

Try that as I believe it works.

Otherwise, I will simply remove them.

I will give the new attachment a try. This picture is what I was trying to accomplish. The far D-18 is the AI version. I hex edited your first attachment. Off to try the new updated version.

The animation of the lights works perfectly on the AI aircraft. Thanks Milton for doing that. Before they stayed on all the time. Now they only come on when the wheels are down as they should. Perfect. Much appreciated.

Maybe Tom will upload his version for all to use. Otherwise, I will create one for you.

richoday, I would be happy to share the wonderful Beech D-18 AI with everyone. I will upload all you need to the Warbirds Library shortly. Remember it must be approved before appearing. You must have the Iwo Jima scenery produced by Roger-Wilco66 and I to use the upload.

Those wanting to use the AI Beech D-18 can make their own AI Flights. I use AI Flight Tool.

Uploading now. Upload successful. You should see as soon as approved.
