I need a boat cusion, and cannot find one. I know some of you have them and do not know what to do with them. These are about 18" square and about 3" thick with handles.
I even checked ebay and walmarts, it seems these are the lost useful things from the past. When I waas growing up everyone had them in their boats. Boats became money pits and the cusion became a lounge with cup holders.

My hips are bad and every time i sit on concrete I am in awful pain for days, like I am today.
I thout of this friday after sitting on concrete for over an hour working on my old van and today i have to walk like a monster, an having problems getting off the tolet, lol, yes i know the comments that will follow this statement.

when i was a kid we had a row boat , my uncle had a 7 horse Johnson motor on his row boat and yes it ran on gas, and the boat would fit in the back of my dad's ford truck, it ran on gas too.
My now days neighbor has a jet boat and all it has is a cockpit, when i ask him where do the fishing poles go he just looked at me as if I were crazy. ........... Note he always has the hood, lol, opened on this working on something. It has a rust proof carriage which he has to pull with a 1 ton truck which runs on diesel.
Old Bob Dylan had it right, the times are a changing.

the cost of fishing, when i was young it cost about .99 cents to go fishing, we got the wigglers free from our compus pit, and Dad would buy 5 gal of gas for the truck @ .19 cents a gal, (.24 if we got Eithel), I forgot his beer at .50 cents a 6 pack. this brings up the total to $1.49.

Are you thinking about something old-fashioned like this, filled with Kapok (= water-resistant & floats on water, thus doubling as swimming aid?):

http://shop.ultramarin.com/bootskissen-mit-kapokfullung-blau-weiss-gestreift.html

I can find out if they are sold in the States if you like.

(Edit: I see they deliver anywhere, you save 19% VAT on the purchase price when delivered abroad but you have to pay shipping costs, of course ;))

These are more modern and from the states, lots of variety:

Have a nice SUnday!

They can ship to store, and you can pick it up in less than a week.

I had two of those and don't know where they went. They got used for everything. Remember using them as a sled for my daughter to slide down the drivewave. They were heavy things.

i dont really understand what you want them for,,,working in the garage?..or in a boat and need it to float...but if you just want a soft cushion to sit on,the cushions for wheelchairs work wonders,i have a 4" thick one for my wheelchair and its comfy as heck, but it sure wont float and doesnt have handles

I know what you're talking about Ickie. They also used to count as a flotation device like a life jacket. These days they want everyone in the boat to have a life jacket.

There was a lake up the road from the family farm with a little general store on the bank. They used to rent out jonboats for $1 a day. Us kids would clean out the boats for them and could use one free during the week when business had slacked off for the boat cleanings. My family kept a bigger jonboat in Red River and would run it with an old 18 horse Johnson. We never had life jackets in any of those boats. Just the boat cushions.

I might have some down in the barn that belonged to Mrs Willy's Dad. After he died last winter, they sold off his boat as it needed work and no one was wanting to spend money on it. But all his stuff that was in it stayed in the barn. I'll look later today when I go down there next to feed the horses.

Willy you got it right, there is no substitute for these old things, the new foam ones are just not right.
I need 1 for when I have to sit on the cement working on the old van or just sitting on cement steps when I am gabbing with my neighbors.
I remember sitting on these all day on the lake and my bottom never got sore.

I remember those things. Years ago. We had em in the boat when fishing. To sit on. Like Willy said, they were flotation devices.
