View Full Version : Airfile Question?

Hello !

I´ve been playing with Pepe´s Re-2001 recently. The wheels of the airplane as it is look like they are stuck in the mud, so I made a little change to the contact points inthe Aircraft file to correct this - see pics.

However, when I use the plane with the new contact points in a mission, this happens:

71359
The wingmen jump into the air and crash. When I use the original contact points, this does not happen.
Question: is there anything in the airfile that is affected by the contact points? What can I do to prevent this from happening?

Thanks for any help!

You have the right idea, but you're not completing the job, and the AI are over-reacting to this mistake. From your pic of the original condition, it looks as if you should be adjusting the static pitch along with the contact points. The tailwheel is set perfectly on the surface, while the main gear is sunken. By adjusting the pitch slightly higher after doing the contact points, the birds will load just a wee bit above the ground and then settle gently. Then you adjust pitch again a little lower and watch as they load perfectly on the surface with no settling or jumping around.

Contact points are just a third of the equation. You have to also respect and address static pitch and static height as well, meaning sometimes you will have to adjust the static height when doing the pitch and points, but in this case i don't think you'll need to concern yourself with that part.

Hello Bearcat,
thank you for the explanation! I will look at it when I return home next week, and let you know about the results.

Cheers,

Hello again!

Bearcat, I changed the static pitch in the Aircraft Config, and now the ai planes spawn nicely and settle onto the runway without jumping.
Thank you for the advice!

How about posting the contact point changes that you made here in this thread?

Ok, here is the contact points section from the Aircraft Config of the Re-2001. The numbers in red have been changed.
I also attach the complete file, if someone wants to try it.

The main problem in this plane is that it has not geometry parameters, and tail weel still higher, try this!
