Alright, so we did it.... the Lockheed Hudsons, Electra, Lodestars are RELEASED.

And to beat the Summer Time Blues we're offering a discount for the first bunch of buyers ! Over 10% off .... temporary !

That's also a bit of a sweetener for those waiting for the 'operations package' that I did not finish yet.

So.... come and get it at the FSAddon Shop folks : www.silvercloud-store.com (http://www.silvercloud-store.com)

I see the ZS-ATI is grey with Alpha channel only, but in real it was natural metal colour.

Flying it now.
Looking at the package, and the plane while flying i must admit only one word comes to mind................ ART!

I'm especially moved by the Dutch livery (du'h), but what a complete and valuable package it is! The price is more (well more) then reasonable.

In short; Very happy with it :salute::applause::medals:

(edit: Perhaps i overlooked, but is there a manual for the Hudson?)

Although I have been painting and flying a beta version of the Hudson for some months now I will be purchasing the released version when the Paymaster puts the money in my bank account next week.

Not sure about FSX but in P3D it is a very stable plane to fly.

Just one thing with Cocpit lights:

Here are OFF:
71009

Here are ON:
71010

As You see when lights ON te VC is more darker, only gouges lights (if it will be draker on the outside). Its ok, but model uses darker textures in too same time when in VC cocpith light are ON. Tested on down or sunset.
It will possible to fix it? A little annoying.

Merci beaucoup François and Simon,

I love your Hudson and its numerous iterations as well as the animation and droppable weapons and effects...

As usual with a plane that I particularly like, I have added some personal tweaks and would also like to have a go at some repaints.

I was wondering if the mat textures (no reflectivity that I can see on the Netherland Mk.I) are a norm for this aircraft and is it possible to give it some ? How would one go about it as I've tried a few tweaks without any result worth mentioning... ?

Looking forward to any suggestion.

During the war unless the aircraft was bare metal the paint was a matt type in order to reduce the shine. Basically the only reflective area was the glass on the cockpit.

If the aircraft is a restored one then the paint is a gloss paint. Gloss paint on the aircraft helps the airflow and reduces drag.

Hope this will help you.

Bonjour Pat,

I agree with you that reason would have it that "mat" should and would have been prevalent on camouflaged planes although I remember reading about some german experten who would have his 109 waxed to reduce drag...

What I'm thinking of is that there is a world between mat and glossy such as satin when you buy paint nowadays and what weathering (dust, rain, wind, etc.) would have produced in the way of a certain patina which would be prevalent after some flight time. Since I'm looking at weathering the plane, I would like a little bit of shine to help me along this line of thought.

Cheers,

Fleurdelys

Fleurdelys

To add shine when painting an aircraft you need to add an Alpha channel. I use a programme called DXTBMP to do this. You open the aircraft file in this programme I am able to import an Alpha. This is a black and white version of the file you have opened and you can choose the amount of Alpha you want between 1 and 255. 255 is like a matt and 1 is pretty much transparent. Most alphas I use are between 180 and 240.

Merci Pat,

I will have a go at the textures and work on the alpha with your numbers from there...

Bonjour,

Following my earlier posts, I started work on two re-paints for the Hudson.

As usual, I prefer going for out of the ordinary skins and am presently in the final stages of these two skins. The first one is of a Japanese captured RAAF Mk.IV aircraft for which there isn't much as far as historical facts are concerned. The second one will be based on a very nice CFS2 skin made by Paul Straney (if I can get a hold of his OK) of a Chinese Mk.III Hudson used for transport.

I have managed to give them some light reflectivity (more than the present skins "reflect") and have weathered these wartime beauties a bit (a question of taste, I guess).

They should be available in a few days...

Cheers,

Fleurdelys

Bonjour,

Both textures have now been uploaded and should be available shortly.

A last minute correction was made to the tail decals to reflect more correctly the one used by the JIAAF evaluation unit which would have been overseeing captured aircrafts.

Enjoy !
