Looks pretty darn good. If it had Quiet Trader variant, it would be an insta-buy for me. Waiting for some reviews now. Seems like FMC comes in extra package with extra cost.

Hi Jeansy

The external model is nicely done and i did find a very user friendly paint kit - its just the VC that lets it down in my eyes - looks flat and simular to an Alphasim made product .

The avsim thread seemed to indicate, that it would be nice aircraft, I'm confused. I think I'll pass for now, it's expensive considering that the system modeling is 'light'. If they add QT-model, I'll reconsider.

Obviously I have bias, but I find the comment absolutely bizarre as I would honestly say that its one of the nicest VCs (high quality texturing, all switches/knobs/levers 3D modelled) that I have ever used:

The systems modelling isn't that light, certainly far more advanced/complex than any previous CLS developed title. I enjoy complex airliners and this certainly ticks all the boxes for me.

If they add QT-model, I'll reconsider.

Glad to hear it. Keep an eye out on our site.

Well I sort of got confused, when there was mention of F-Lite system, but it was referring to FMC, so I stand corrected. And from your shots it looks really good!

I think I have to go buy it after all. Analog-decked short hauler is something I've been missing. Any chance of that QT-model in the future?

Martyn
August 2nd, 2012, 00:03
Unfortunately we've found the level of complexity hard to explain, it certainly doesn't fit neatly into either the F-Lite or Professional ranges, it is somewhere in between and therefore it should suit both markets. You can either use the 'Auto start' button to get flying quickly or follow the detailed check-lists and configure all of the systems properly (nearly every switch is clickable and functioning).

Any chance of that QT-model in the future?

Yes :jump:

As I say, I am of course biased but I really have enjoyed working on this airliner and writing the manual. It is a credit to the developers at CLS, a beautiful piece of work.

Hi Martyn

I have put it back on my pc but cant find in the manual where you click to get the door animation panel to appear - it tells me about it but i just cant find reference to how you get it to show.

Also to define my comments about theVC - there is no glazing texture so it looks like there is no windscreens, the gauges look flat compared to recently produced addons - are they 3d?

Okay quick test hop around Friday Harbor... I really like it, can't say anything about systems yet, but it flies great, has nice soundset, and smooth controlling. Visual model is really purty outside, inside there are spots that are mushier, but I don't care as long as the over all quality and feel is right. It's a keeper for me. I think I'm officially back to tubeliners now. I might squeeze out some paints too. Well done JF/CLS:applause:

edit: I may also add that the framerate is excellent.

To open the door panel, press the GPU icon. Refer to this FAQ for info on how to access the icons: http://www.justflight.com/supportfaq/146-200#FAQ1

The gauge bezels, knobs and switches are 3D and certain parts of some gauges (e.g. slip indicator on attitude indicator) are also 3D - however the gauge needles are not 3D.

The windscreen glazing is always a tricky one, some users want a glazed texture effect and others prefer clear windscreens.

No arguments necessary :engel016:. Please send any questions you have to the support team (using the link above). They will be happy to answer any queries about the product.

The abilities/features of the product can be found here: http://www.justflight.com/product/146-200-jetliner

We try to be very clear with our marketing (product details on the website, video etc) what level of complexity the product has. This product sits somewhere in between our F-Lite and Professional ranges and should suit the majority of simmers from both camps, but not all.

thanks for the link, but i dont have 3rd party email programs, as i use my email via weblink, and that link doesnt help as it asks for a program, ive replied to my order emails for the refund

ive read the product page, but it lacks the operation of the fmc and procedures, so in hind sight the product page is useless to work out what it can or cant do, if i knew there was no real vnav or lnav i wouldnt have bought the fmc and no where it mentions it was by CLS

it even say on the product page there is a Lnav when in fact there isnt and the manual says there isnt

Martyn
August 3rd, 2012, 00:31
Thanks for the feedback.

The e-mail address for the orders team is orders@justflight.com. If you move your mouse cursor over the link on the contact us page, you should see the address in the bottom corner of your web browser. Alternatively you can use the support section which has an online form that doesn't require the use of an e-mail client.

We tried to make the LNAV functionality clear with this bit of text on the product page:

and LNAV modes. LNAV following FSX GPS flight plan.

I apologise if you found it misleading.

CLS are credited fully in the manual but as this was developed exclusively for Just Flight, and therefore is a Just Flight product, we didn't feel it necessary to make special mention of their involvement in the project on the product page. As publishers of their excellent titles over the past 8 years, it was important to make it clear that this is in fact a Just Flight product and is therefore not available from CLS. This aircraft is part of our Jetliner range, sitting in between F-Lite and Professional in terms of complexity. This is probably clearer to our existing customer base than it is to less regular, or new customers.

Open gear doors go to BAe146200_int2.dds tile. In paintkit there's a layer group named "Main gear Door Open" which has the shading, dirt etc, just place the paint below these in that particular group (above "white base copy 3"). Unless of course you happen to use a paint program that does not support Photoshop layer groups.

70222

and there is no proper layering for the engine painting.

Engines do have their own very well layered paint templates.

Barnes
August 4th, 2012, 11:35
Hi

Thanks for that. I have already found all those files but cannot make the paint slip under the detail in any shape or form as you would a normal paint kit . There is no whitebase copy 3 in the kit i have from the download. I do quite a bit of re-painting you know! Have you managed to use it yet to achieve results using the kit that is supplied to customers?

Edit

In fact - i dont have a lot of those fuselarge layers in my kit so no wonder i cant do it.

bushpilot
August 4th, 2012, 11:47
Yes same thing as with gear doors, the engine paint goes to the second lowest layer in the particular "engine group", and gets placed below details. There is own group for each engine side. Hope it helps. I'm not sure if PS Elements fully supported layer groups, if that's the prog you are using.

Also in the works: STA-paint. Engines and wings still need to be done. I know for certain that wings are a b*tch to paint with camo pattern, because of their layout. So it might end up with plain green wings.

Okay some issues I've noticed with this now that I've made some nice flights:

Throttle seems very sensitive, especially on approach it's tricky to manage.

I don't get flap sounds, gear down/up sounds, ground roll or touchdown sounds. Didn't notice this before as I was using Accu-Feel, but after disabling it, those sounds are not there.

Edit: And GPWS makes multiple altitude call-outs in a row, e.g. 'ten-ten-ten-ten-ten-ten-ten'

The sound-set was developed based on what could be heard from the cockpit of the real aircraft, neither flap nor touchdown sounds are very audible in the real thing.

First impressions - to coin a local phrase - I'm Gobsmacked!

Nice to find out I had a few hundred Just Flight credits [from previous purchases] so that knocked a few quid off...

Easy purchase, download and installation - thank you for the dual installer so I pointed it at P3D :applause:

Very tidy VC with lots of attention to detail, superb texturing and love the window views.

Externally, well it's already been said... Lovely job and a fair price considering the -300's coming too.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Jon Murchinson model in FS9 many years ago, endured much 'teasing' from the Iris 'teaser' 146 and now I've got a real good feeling about this bird - well done to the team that produced this aircraft!

Regards, Dave.

I envy you...I was able to paint quite a bit! But then life and work moved in. I don't know how you find the time, knowing what it takes to knock some of these out?
Thank you...for your time...and paint's!
Now I must go and buy this plane!

Yes Cody - we miss your excellent contributions. I have to say that on this model i can turn one around in an hour if i can find enough ref material and within the limitations of Elements.

What good news!

I flew in these a number of times during the late 90s (can't recall if it was Air BC or Jazz) on some Vancouver-Comox and Vancouver Terrace flights. I loved them, enjoyed being able to see out the windows well (no wing in the way), and I recall them being quiet and very smooth. I loved the character - 4 engines, high wing not the generic two-engine low wing vanilla mantra of current jetliners. Miss seeing them a lot - here's a chance to fly them!

Thanks so much for doing a Jazz - nice to see that one early on. Love the Aer Lingus - very pretty! There are some nice BA schemes too ...

As promised, an Air Tanker (http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/2951-just-flight-bae-146-n146ff-air-tanker/) paint. Despite my earlier plans, didn't do the concept version, but a real life water bomber operated by Neptune Aviation. I painted a dummy drop hatch at the bottom and added fire retardant staining.

I think one could easily add water bombing effects to the model, if the coordinates of the hatch were known. There are some nice free water drop effects around teh interwebs, I remember once adding them to Piglet's Dromader.

excellent work, sir. I'm not picky about which paint, this will do just fine. got interested after seeing some clips from the bush pilots series that is broadcast in the UK. this plane services their main bush hub at Maun, and it matches with the aeroworx south african sceneries that I recently installed. Here's how to convert BAe to a fire fighter:

Search avsim for bell205a1.zip

Copy effects from it to FSX effects folder and add this to aircraft.cfg:

[smokesystem]
smoke.0 = -57.00, 0.000, -4.000, fx_N_wtrdrp

It even has very nice little rainbow:icon_lol:

TO: BUSHPILOT
Hey there, Bushie:

Please tell us/me a bit about the QT model !! Do I correctly presume that it's a cargo variant? Since I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Trash Hauler, I'd love to see such a creation.

When I saw the shot of you taking this bird into Bronson Creek, I almost overflowed my drool catcher! I fly into that area often, but never considered flying a 146 into such places. But it's entirely logical however, and I think you just sold me on the 146 -- especially if you're gonna do some Alaskan paints.

And btw: Are you affiliated with the Return to Misty Moorings (RTMM) group? They just very recently upgraded the scenery for Bronson Creek.

bushpilot
September 10th, 2012, 22:25
Hi Jon, yes I'm waiting for JF to release the cargo variant (Quiet Trader aka QT), it's not included in base package, but was promised as a future update. After it's released, I'll do some freighter paints for Alaska. I'm not associated with Misty Moorings, although I know and like their work. I'm gonna check out the Misty Moorings Bronson Creek.

My BAe trip to Bronson Creek was inspired by this video:

Air North out of Whitehorse would be a good and excellent canidate for a fictional paint representing the Canadian Arctic or the famous Canuk North out of Yellowknife.

HighGround22

.
Thanks for the good info, Bushie; I learned a lot from all that! I'd had no idea that a) Bronson was such a major enterprise; b) that they routinely put large, heavy 4-engined cabs into the place; and c) that the 146 would be such a natural for such places.

Just to be clear about the Bronson Creek scenery: we die-hard bush pounders at RTMM use Orbx's Pacific Fjords and FSAddons Tongass Fjords X as the basis for our operations (they butt-up against each other to form one contiguous area). So the super-talented lads at RTMM then adds extra scenery and eye candy to those two base sceneries. Bronson, being one of them, lies inside Tongass Fjords, so you'd first have to have that scenery before adding RTMM's extra enhancements.

Probably my all-time favourite RTMM-based activity is to fly a run they call Dispatch #012, "Stikine River Mail Drop": Y'fly out of Wrangell (PAWG) and head north to enter the river valley, then north past the beautiful glaciers (compliments of the Tongass scenery). The run entails stopping at several bush strips along the valley as it arches north, then east, south and back west (forming a loose square) to join onto the river valley again for the return to PAWG. Takes around 2.5 hrs.

The scenery is just downright ruggedly beautiful and the bush strips are fun to get into, but the last two are the highlight of the run, for me: Bob Quinn Lake and Bronson Creek. I like the first for its rugged charm, and Bronson mainly because of the tricky approach. The runway's huge, compared with the others (now I know why!), but it's a hoot getting the approach right. Especially if you should pick scabby weather for the flight!

I read-up on the QT and I've put it at the top of my "BUY!" list, for when it's released. Meanwhile I must now get me the base model! See whatcha gone and done!?!

Thanks again, Bushie!

Yep, Tongass X is what shows in my pics. Never got around to get the PFJ package, because I think it is (too) similar to Tongass X and I still have some areas left to be explored in Tongass area. I think my favorite strip is the Cirque airstrip beside the mountain and glacier. Nice short hop from Scud River.

IMHO
The paint kit is very well done. I often create a master blank with full length fuse, then cut and paste to callibration marks. It can be tedious, but when you use the reg marks you always line up graphics perfectly. I do agree that a wing template would be a fine addition though.
I've done a couple of "what" if variants that I have posted here.
72560

The virtual cocpit was well to my liking. I have other similarly priced aircraft...specifically a Dash 8 that truly had a disappointing VC. I have a 40" monitor and I still cant read the gauges in that particular aircraft.

The small glitches i.e GPWS multiple callouts, I assume will be addressed in upcoming service packs...I will look forward to that.

All in all I find this aircraft to be well worth the investment, and I look forward to the free upgrade on the upcoming release.

IMHO.....
