I know that many of you have contacts at Microsoft that I do not have:
Please see here, I am at witts end and need a contact or two:
http://thefreeflightsite.com/School%20Program.htm

Pretty much explains itself. The idea being to get my and your nieces, nephews, grand children ect. , interested in something
more than "reality television" and make learning math, history, art, design or computer programming fun, to be taught in schools.

I am not asking for anything other than contacts, This is free to all schools...no profit involved what so ever.

I have pretty much exhausted the supply of "Legal" copies of CFS1 so now I need ya'lls help to get permission from Microsoft
to redistribute CFS1 at no charge to the schools. Any Contact you have will be much appreciated.

Please contact me direct at DEA14U@aol.com (forum moderator, email is ok, been included with every download I have ever released)

Any help is much appreciated

Dave :salute:

Hi Dave,

I really appreciate the work you are doing for High School students!
Having worked as an IT tutor for a local charity, I know how difficult it is to be granted any commercial funding.
Microsoft does support such work, as I managed to get discounted copies of the 'Office 2010' application with a special licence key.
I'm not working for them any more, but I'll see what I can do to obtain a contact.

P.S: Your domain would need to be registered as a charity, with a registration number. I can't see that on your website. It also is a '.com', and not a '.org'!
Maybe some things need to get sorted...

Regards,

Stuart

Thanks Stuart and I never thought about a charity, " something to look into". Actually I am not looking for funding, just an ok to make copies of CFS1 for no cost distribution to the schools. It is getting hard to find in any quantities.

About how many CFS disks do you need? There is branding for educational use, Microsoft has always been helpful with requests like yours.

Microsoft sold CFS 1 off to another company that was selling it as a "cheap" $10 game several years ago under the Atari label.

Hello Canelo, 10 or more years since we last talked...thanks for checking the thread.
Each school assuming 5 or 6 computers, at present would be about 50 copies......But because I "being a dumb Mississippi redneck" never thought it would be so hard to contact microsoft about a dead in the water sim "as far as they are concerned". My requests have dropped to zero. But I am more than sure that with the proper ok, I may have to print that many a week.

As explained on the page, our youth is missing out on a great learning opportunity, other than using two thumbs to zap an alien on Xbox.

Most of us already know that the flight part of the sims is fun but it's the creative part that gets you hooked. With a community such as SOH offering open arms, just think how much the newer generation could learn and then teach the others yet to come.

To be very Clear, I just need an ok to copy the CFS1, no money or donations required...thats on me.

Guess I just got fed up with watching my nieces and nephews playing games that taught them nothing.

Dave, I have some old contacts and I will see what we can do to help, if not, as Willy said, you can get licensed copies for $10 so SOH is behind you 100% and we will help!

I know by IPs there are some active MS Members and old Aces Team Members still watching SOH, lets hope one will come forward and help you out! Again, SOH will help if Microsoft doesn't!

SOH will help! one way or another......

Give this a week and lets see what happens.

If no response form Microsoft, I'll talk the staff into SOH funding the buying of licensed CFS1 software as you need it.

I got to rub this in: "I have a GOLD copy of CFS, when it was released CombatFs was the main support site. Maybe someday I will sell it on Ebay....just kidding.....

Well again, I thank you both.
I would rather no one put up any funds, I have taken on that job myself but even at 10 each can add up to a very large sum, just hoping to get an ok to copy, I can afford the 50 cent cd's.

Canelo, you do not remember the Original Free Flight Site back in 1999-2000, you also got me a gold copy of CFS1, lost it in Hurricane Katrina.

Gotta luv you guys

How are you trying to communicate with M$oft? Perhaps an old fashioned letter by US Mail would actually get a better reponse than an easily ignored email.

I see you are still a .com site, and perhaps that is putting them off. They may see this as some kind of scam to get free stuff to resell.

Just a couple of thoughts.
