...was to cross the Mt Blanc (Europeīs highest mountain) in Pigletīs Monomail! Had to climb it up to 16000 ft and managed to keep it over stallspeed with the right mixture! It was a very lsow ascent from Torino, especially the last 5000 ft. After crossing the peaks a slow descent to Sion.

For those who like to know, used addons:
1. WWW replacement textures
2. SceneryTech Landclass europe
3. Holger Sandmanīs Alps mesh
4. and off course Tim Conradīs Monomail

Sometimes I just love that Sim!!!:icon_lol:

Buuurrrrr, It had to have been cold up there in that open cockpit.

Gives you an idea of what the real pilots went through back then.

Well, go back to the WW1 times. The late planes of that time period were operable at 7000-8000 meters, just like BMW powered Fokker D.VII, S.E.5a or recon Rumpler C.VII. Some crews were wearing suits which were electrically heated. Oxygen installations appeared as well.

Currently I am reading Lindbergīs book and the conditions of the pilots in those open cockpit was one of the reasons I started to indulge in such a flight! I wanted to know what was (virtually) possible with an aircaft of that period. The slow climbrate at higher altitudes really made me struggle.

Is that Holgar's mesh for FS9? Can it be used for FSX? I have the package on CD. I now use the FSGenesis 19.1-meter mesh for the Alps in FS9.

Nice captures. :applause:

Pretty cool flight Alex. Thanks for sharing.

:ernae:

It is awesome when you get over the top and begin the descent, seeing all the mountain lakes and high valleys.

...getting back to some older virtual equipment, doing the same flight in FS9! Not bad, only using Holgerīs mesh, RE-textures and everything else is default.

What I really hate on FS9 visuals meanwhile are those rivers and roads running uphill and through the highest mountains in silly angles:banghead:

Comparison just for fun!
