Man, you guys are quick. I didn't even get time to put the announcement here, and I came straight over! :applause:

Yes, the Ultra is out. I hope you like it.

Bernt should be around to answer any questions you might have regarding the flight dynamics, but his real-world flight schedule may mean it takes a while for a reply - please be patient. If I can answer the question, I will. A brief note on the Cargo version - when you load her for the first time, you'll be at almost max weight, so make sure to put lots of nose-down trim before takeoff! You'll see why it takes skill to fly the Ultra fully loaded....

The Manual is in the "...\Airplanes\Super_Cub_Ultra" folder.

If anyone has trouble installing into Win 7, right click the installer before running, select Compatability mode.

The Ultra will be available only on the Flight Replicas website for a week or so, as any updates, if needed, can then be very quickly uploaded. After that, The Ultra will be available from other vendors.

Update: An updated version has been uploaded to the store. Somehow the rear strap holding down the window covers was remaining visible when the cover was off. This has been corrected. The new filename is FR_SCU_FSXA_v11.

If you purchased the Ultra before 8:30 am (Eastern), April 19, your original download link should still work. If you have any problems, please contact me through support.

Ok, thanks, Hank. Their system appears to still tie download links to specific files - and I can't delete old files on their server. :blind:

New purchasers will get the latest version.

I'll send the latest installer you and everyone else who purchased before the update, probably within an hour or so of writing this.

Thank you for the quick fix, Mike! I love this aircraft, and couldn't get enough take-offs and landings in last night. Having seen a demo of one of these, it lives up to all that I remember of the real aircraft - one that, outside of FS-fantasy land, is very near to the top of aircraft I would love to own for real (based on what you get compared to what you spend). Just like what I remember, you can get the tail up before ever moving (this is so well done!), and in no time at all, have the aircraft practically hanging on its prop as you climb out.

Besides everything being of typical Flight Replicas quality (it doesn't get better), I love the various normal map/bump map effects over some of the unique surfaces/materials in the cockpit! Very well done!

Bernt has redone the center of gravity attributes of the Cargo version, to bring them more into line with real behaviours at higher weights. Existing customers will be getting their new aircraft.cfg's via email immediately, while for new customers the installer in the Flight Replicas store is now updated FR_SCU_FSXA_v13.

Just out of curiosity I only have FSX Delux which doesn't contain the acceleration pack, will it still run and what is it that I will miss out on?

Normally I just look and see if it requires Acc pack and if it does I move on and don't give it another thought but this one perked my interest so just wondering about it is all

FDE wise e.g. jet and piston engine calculations are much improved (noticable different) with Acceleration. Even if it would work, performance will most likely be off. Acceleration is highly recommended!

Here's the rest of the story. After I saw Mike's note here, I sent a note to his support address. About an hour later I had the link.

Now, first two flights done. It is an exceptional package. Most important, I've never flown a real airplane like this, but I did get a chance for a close imspection at an airshow a while back. The flight model feels very believable to me, especially low and very slow. Why would I want a chopper with performance like this. And it is gorgeous.

Well done, Mike

I have an interesting problem. I am using EZDOK and TRK IR with the Ultra Cub. I have a very high end system with Win 64.
I have no trouble using the mouse to activate switches etc in the EZDOK main panel view. However when I go to an EZDOK camera view of just the fuel tank selector and the elevator trim, I have no mouse control. I have no problem in other aircraft using EZDOK in any camera view. I am at a loss as to how to fix and am not sure if it is an aircraft problem or EZDOK .

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tom,

I don't have EZDOK, but one of the beta testers did. He initially had difficulties similar to yours, but in the end it turned out to be that he hadn't set the camera config for the Ultra. Could that be it?

Mike, just purchased the Ultra and I have to say, WOW, lol. What a terrific airplane. Lionheart and I hooked up for some Touch n' Go's at Diamond point then low and slow over the landscape to Fairchild. We hit a few small fields along the way, and it was just a great experience. Bill said it looked like an elevator, lol. You barely get rolling and she's airborne, just amazing. Thanks for all the hard work and the "Ultra" experience.:applause::applause::salute:

Hi Tom,

I'm the beta tester Mike mentioned and used EZdok throughout testing, although not with TrackIR. I did forget initially to use the EZCA config tool to initialise the Ultra for EZdok camera, the result being some strange internal and external views but I'm guessing you have done this as your problem isn't views as such. My setup was to use an existing camera profile I had created for the Super Cub Extreme which is almost the same as the Ultra and I only had to tweak the magnification and position slightly. Like you I use a dedicated internal view for tank selector and trim but have no problems with mouse control.

The fact that mouse control works ok in other aircraft views suggests the problem is specific to that view so first off I'd suggest comparing the various view settings (POV, mouse movement etc.) using the EZdok view configuration dialog for an aircraft view that works against the one that doesn't looking for any differences. If they appear the same then you could delete the offending view, clone or copy one that works and then tweak that back to the view you want (this is how I set up my views initially). Another thought - did you set the views up from scratch for the Ultra or import from another similar aircraft? I've found this to cause problems on occasion depending on how dissimilar the geometries of the aircraft are. Finally, have you checked without TrackIR support enabled? I can't see this would make any difference for one particular view but maybe worth trying.

Let me know what you find.

Hi Rob,

It is working now. I know I had run the config tool after the last update, but I don't think I did after installing the yellow cub textures. That may have been it.
The interesting thing is that when I was in the main panel view prior to getting it working, the tank selector was visible and I could control with the mouse. I also removed the view of the trim and fuel once more and reinstalled. I had done that once before but it didn't help at that time. Bottom line is that it is working.

Thanks again for help and your part in developing a really great plane.

Glad it's working Tom, EZdok can be a bit quirky at times but I wouldn't be without it now I can make it do what I want! Testing the Ultra was great fun and followed on nicely from clocking up 200+ hours in the Super Cub Extreme over Alaska and the Pacific North West. The Ultra is now my aircraft of choice for exploring these regions.

Have fun :)

Hi,

I'm having a lot of fun flying the Ultra. I spent many weeks trying to land a default cub on the moving bus in FSX missions and if I'd have had this baby it would have been drop it and stop it time. I have been doing extreme STOLs and I marvel at how I can leap off the RW and climb out then land in someone's driveway or yard. I have yet to skim a lake on an approach but that's coming too.

Really a great piece of work, congratulations to Mike and Flight Replicas, what's next.

what's next.

good flights, Cal

Happy to hear people are enjoying the Ultra. :)

Next is the Messerschmitt Bf-109K-4: http://www.flight-replicas.com/Me-109KFSX.htm Probably just a few weeks or less from beta. The P-40N is coming along, but will take some time as I'm really enjoying every little detail. Then there are three other projects in the pipeline, all civilian, but not far along enough yet to make any announcements. Voila! :)

One of the atributes of the cub is it's trimmable stabilizer which still permits controlled flight at a very aft CG, however stability does deteriorate! A friend chasing geese on the North Slope for Fish and Game tailed his in and unknowingly punched holes the rear float compartments and flooded them. Taking off a few minuites later he was unwittingly at a hugely aft CG with the water in the tails of the floats, but with trim and lots of fwd elevator able to make it to another pond....

To eliminate any misconceptions I was not involved in this cub, but in Mike's original. Totally Bernt's doing on the flight dynamics and a fine job!

Cheers: Tom
