It has been a busy weekend. Having to work on top of Easter, on top of mother's birthday, on top of some yardwork.

Now time to fly.

ENHF to ENVA. Heinkel Doppleblitz. GW3. Default real weather.

Robert, entrants are automatically placed in each race. There is no need to declare which one. Hope that helps.

"Each race is scored separately, with a rank ordering for the Precision Race and also for the Reference Race."

Crash at ENKJ. Not sure why. Was stopped then the tail sank into the runway. Will have to refly.

You have a couple of options, Robert.

(a) Since you were landing when the crash occurred, you can treat this as a crash landing. Take the leg as flown (using the time from departure to crash landing) and start from the new airport. You add a crash penalty to your flight log.
(b) You can simply re-fly the leg. Don't count the invalid leg time in your log book. You do add the crash penalty, of course.

Not sure what you prefer. But normally, one might as well take the "crash landing" option--advancing to the next airport while incurring the standard crash penalty. No reason to re-fly unless you want to.

This clearly is an odd crash. You had landed and were on the ground moving at 10kts just before the "event" happened.

Willy
April 10th, 2012, 21:47
On the ground and moving slow? Sounds like what happened to me in Oslo Fornebu.

robert41
April 11th, 2012, 16:31
I'll take the penalty and the leg.

Hopefully these folks here will have that hole in the runway fixed before leaving.

Now all I have to do is put the tail back on the Heinkel. Anyone have some duct tape?

Great Job Robert!!

I notice tell tale signs of GW3 in your screen shots.

Folks may not know it, but it is a lot more difficult to make out the footprint of an airport in GW3.

One of the first things you do to modify for the retrofit is to find and delete the scenery file that has taxiways on it .... all of 'um

Then a lot of the runways are turned into grass or dirt .... gives a nice ol'time feelin' ... but it's sure tough trying to find an airport you've never seen before.

Forget about lights ... you better be there by dark.

Hat's off to you Sir!

Great Job Robert!

April 25th, 2012, 13:19
I was just in GW3 at FAYP ... testing for another run.

You need to go there and check out a building crash I encountered just barely off to the west of RWY 20.

One foot on the runway and one foot off .... turning to park ... say three quarters of the way to the end ... there's no building there at all.

If that happens to you too, then I would go ahead to each airport (menu Go to Airport) and have a check.

Cheers,

robert41
April 25th, 2012, 15:22
Thanks Salt. The coral runways are usually easy to spot, but the grass ones blend right into the scenery.
Just did a test at FAYP, no crashes with three different aircraft. Nice fall colors down there.

Should be just beyond a larger island in the river. And sure enough, there it is. The gravel strip stands out well in the rich green landscape.

Safe at Cape Town. Weather was clear till about the last hour or so. Winds were something else. Some of the best and worst of this event. Had a nice 30kt tailwind for awhile, then turned to a 40kt crosswind and then a 55kt quartering headwind. Still, pretty close to my guess time. Off to Nellie's bar.

This has been a hell of an adventure. A big thanks to all those that set up this event. :applause:

Welcome to Cape Town!...great scenery shots along the way!:wavey:

The olympic judges gave you all 10's across the board on the landing BTW. :applause:
The party has loosened them up a bit....they're hinting that 9's are pretty much anything you walk away from. :wiggle:
